Sharing the status of a ride on Uber with friends and family allows them to know how long it is until you arrive, see your position on the map, know specific data about the driver and the car. Status can be shared on iPhone or Android, although the process is slightly different. On Android you can indicate up to five emergency contacts to easily share various information.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: iPhone
Step 1. Tap the Uber app
Step 2. Tap the "Where To?"

Step 3. Enter the address you intend to go to
Step 4. Tap the "Current Location" button to change the starting point
By default, the driver picks up the passenger in the seat that corresponds to their current position. You can change it by tapping this button on the map.
Step 5. Tap the type of ride you want to do
You will see different options and associated rates. Touching one will show the time when the driver should pick you up.
Step 6. Tap "Confirm Uber" to book the ride
If you have not changed your departure point, you will be prompted to confirm that you wish to depart from your current location.
Step 7. Once a driver has accepted your request, their name will appear at the bottom of the screen:

Step 8. Tap "Share Status"

Method 2 of 2: Android
Step 1. Tap the Uber app
You can only share the destination and the status of the ride if you have booked one and the driver has accepted.
Step 2. Tap the menu button (☰)
You can choose up to five emergency contacts. You can quickly send the status and destination of the ride to these people.
Adding an emergency contact is optional. If you often share information about Uber, this makes the process easier
Step 3. Tap "Settings"
Step 4. Tap "Emergency Contacts"
Step 5. Tap "Add Contacts"
Step 6. Tap the contacts you want to add
You can select up to five of them.
Step 7. Tap "Add"
The contacts will be added to the list.
Step 8. Go back to the Uber map
Once you have selected your contacts, you can book a ride from the main screen.
Step 9. Drag a finger on the map to set the starting point
You can tap the token to center it where you are.
Step 10. Choose the ride you want to book
The estimated waiting time will appear next to the starting point button.
Step 11. Tap "Select Starting Point" to confirm where you are starting from and the type of ride
Step 12. Tap the "Where To?"

Step 17. Tap "Share Estimated Time of Arrival"
Step 18. Enter the contacts you want to send the status to
