In March 2016, Uber launched the "Family Profile" mode, which allows up to five users to share a single payment method. This account is supervised by a designated organizer. Once the profile is created, the organizer selects a payment method, inviting family and friends to join. Each Family Profile member must have an account on the Uber app, with the latest version installed on their mobile device.
Steps
Part 1 of 4: Preparing the Family for a Shared Profile
Step 1. Select an organizer, which is the person who manages all elements of the family account
This type of supervision is perfect for parents, while it can put kids in trouble. The organizer must:
- Create the family profile.
- Invite up to four people (friends and family) to join your account.
- Select a payment method for the account.
- Receive the invoice and receipt for each trip.
- Be able to view every run made by profile members.
Step 2. Install the latest version of the Uber application on each member's mobile
The family profile is only available for the latest update.
Step 3. Create an account for each family profile member
To receive an invitation from the organizer, each attendee must first have a valid Uber account.
Part 2 of 4: Creating a Family Profile on Uber
Step 1. If you are the organizer, tap the menu button, represented by an icon consisting of three vertical lines

Step 2. Select "" Settings ""
It is the last option on the side menu.
Step 3. Tap "" Set up a family profile ""
This option is located in the profile section.
Step 4. Tap "" Invite a member ""
Your contact list will open.
Step 5. Select the contact you want to invite
Uber lets users define their own family. As a result, it is possible to invite both relatives and friends.
Step 6. Tap "" Continue ""
The selected contact will receive an invitation to join the family profile.
- In order for the contact to receive the invitation, they must have an account on Uber.
- You can invite up to four of your friends and family.
Step 7. Upon reaching this screen, you will see the following option:
"" Select payment method "".
- If you have not associated a credit card with your account, you will see the "" Add card "" option. Tap "" Next "". Enter the data manually or by swiping the card. Tap "" Save "" to add it to your profile. This card will become the family profile's default payment method.
- If you have already added a card to your account, you will see "" Payment Method "". To change it, tap "" Payment Method "", then select a different credit card or add a new one.
Part 3 of 4: Joining a Family Profile on Uber
Step 1. Wait for the notification from Uber to arrive
If the organizer sends you an invitation, Uber will notify you.
To receive an invitation, you must have an account on Uber
Step 2. Click on the notification to open Uber
Alternatively, you can access the invitation via your e-mail box. Open the email and tap Accept the invitation.
Step 3. Tap Accept to join the family profile
A green check mark will appear on the screen to confirm this.
