This article explains how to send a map with your current location to one of your contacts on WhatsApp.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: On the iPhone
Step 1. Open WhatsApp
The icon of this app is depicted as a green speech bubble with a white phone.
If you haven't already set up WhatsApp, do so before continuing
Step 2. Click on the Chat tab
You will see it at the bottom of the screen. From this tab, you can select one of the conversations.
If a WhatsApp conversation appears, press the "Back" button in the upper left corner of the screen before continuing
Step 3. Select a conversation
The chat with the corresponding contact will open.
To create a new message, you can also press the "New Message" icon in the upper right corner of the "Chat" page, before selecting a contact
Step 4. Click on +
You will see this button in the lower left corner of the screen. Select it to open a menu.
Step 5. Click on Location
This item is one of the last in the menu.
Step 6. Click on Submit your position
This option is located below the map at the top of the screen. Select it to send a map with a red dot to indicate your position; the recipient can click on the "Share" arrow in the lower left corner of the screen, then click on Open in Maps to receive directions.
If necessary, press Authorize to allow WhatsApp to access your location information.
Method 2 of 2: On Android
Step 1. Open WhatsApp
The icon of this app is represented by a green speech bubble with a white phone.
If you haven't already set up WhatsApp, you need to do this before continuing
Step 2. Press the Chat tab
You will see it in the upper left corner of the screen. The list of existing conversations will appear.
If a WhatsApp conversation opens, first press the "Back" button in the upper left corner of the screen
Step 3. Select a conversation
This will open the chat with the corresponding contact.
To create a new conversation, you can also press the green "New Message" icon in the lower right corner of the "Chat" page, before selecting a contact
Step 4. Click on the paperclip icon
You will see it in the lower right corner of the screen, next to the text field.
Step 5. Click on Location
You will find this entry in the last line of options.
Step 6. Click on Send your current position
Look for this option just below the map at the top of the screen. Select it to send your contact a map with a marker showing your location.
