There are various ways to add media files and programs to an Android or iOS device. This guide will show you how to turn your mobile into a real multimedia device.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Android OS
Step 1. Visit the Google Play Store
You can access the virtual store from your phone's Application list or from your computer by going to the site. Many applications, games, songs and videos are available for free download.

Step 2. Download apps from other sources
In order to install apps from sources other than the Google Play Store, you will need to set your phone to allow non-market apps.
- Press the Menu button on your phone and tap Settings. Scroll down to Security and tap it to open the Security menu. Scroll down and check the "Unknown sources" box. This will allow you to install apps directly from APK files.
- An APK file is the file that Android uses to install a program. If you want to add a program, it must be in APK format.
- Be careful about downloading apps from safe sources. There are several communities that offer applications not available in the Store, often for free. It could be pre-release versions still in the works, or apps bought out of the store.
- When you download an APK file, you can open it with the Downloads app on your phone. Tap on the APK file and your phone will ask you if you want to install it.
Step 3. Transfer music, videos and images from your computer
If there are any files on your computer that you want to add, transfer them to your phone using a USB cable.
- With Windows, if you have Windows Media Player 10 or newer installed, you can transfer files directly to your phone when you connect it to your computer.
- With Mac, you will first need to install Android File Transfer in order for the phone to be recognized.
- Copy music to the Music folder, videos to the Videos folder, and images to the Pictures folder.
Step 4. Download files from the network
By browsing the network with your phone, you can download files directly to your phone's storage.
- To download an image, tap and keep tapping the image for a second and then release it. A menu will open and you will be given the option to save the image to your phone.
- The downloaded files will be stored in the Downloads folder on your phone. You can move them by connecting your phone to your computer and moving files with Windows; or by installing a File Manager app.

Step 1. Download new applications
To browse the apps available for download, use the App Store button on the main screen. Various free options are available.
Step 2. Download music and videos
To browse the apps available for download, use the iTunes button on the main screen. Most of these apps are paid.
Step 3. Transfer music and videos from computer
You can use iTunes on computer to transfer music, video, image files to iPhone.
Step 4. Install apps not found in the App Store
