When eye makeup is done, the most common goal is to make them bigger. However, if they are sagging, it can be a little more difficult. The downward eyes have a small excess of skin hanging from the fold of the mobile eyelid. This feature makes them appear smaller and can also complicate the eyeshadow application. With the right technique and a few tricks, it is possible to have them bigger, beautiful and brighter.
Steps
Part 1 of 3: Prepare the Lids
Step 1. Prepare your eyelids
This step is important for anyone, but it is especially important for those with droopy eyes. The primer creates a base that helps set makeup and maintain it throughout the day. Since downward eyes tend to cause smudging and smudging, primer can undoubtedly make a difference.
Apply the primer with your fingertip and let it absorb for about a minute before proceeding
Step 2. Prepare the brushes
There are several brushes that allow you to achieve various results. To apply eyeshadow more accurately, you will need a standard brush, a tapered blending brush, a stiff, straight bristle brush. They will help you get a flawless result.
You can find them in perfumery or in a makeup shop
Step 3. Choose the colors
For droopy eyes you will need to use a light, medium and dark tone, all with a matte finish. You will also need a clear and pearly eyeshadow to highlight. The choice of colors specifically depends on your preferences. You can create natural makeup with colors like cream and brown by adding a golden or bronze pearl eyeshadow. For an intense smokey eye, use shades of gray, black and pearly silver instead.

Part 2 of 3: Enhancing the Eyes with Eyeshadow
Step 1. Do not apply pearlescent colors in the crease of the eye, otherwise you will highlight the defect, drawing attention to the very excess skin you wish to minimize
Instead, a medium matte eyeshadow should be applied to the crease of the eye. It will create dimension without emphasizing imperfection.
Step 2. Bring the eyeshadow you applied into the crease of the eye to the inner corner of the browbone
It's another simple trick to zoom in and open your eyes. After applying and blending the matte eyeshadow into the crease of the eye, drag it gently with the same brush upwards, to the inner corner of the browbone.
The effect does not have to be as dark or pigmented as that created in the crease of the eye: a light stroke is enough to open the gaze
Step 3. Apply a clear pearl eyeshadow to the inner corner of the eye
If you love a certain light and pearly eyeshadow, take the opportunity to use it in the inner corner of the eye, in order to brighten and rejuvenate the look. Sagging eyes can give an impression of perennial sleepiness, so illuminating the inner corner of the eye is effective in counteracting the problem.
- A light gold, pastel pink or pearl is perfect for this step.
- Apply a veil with an eyeshadow brush or finger.
Step 4. Brighten the browbone with a light eyeshadow
The secret is to enlighten. You don't have to use a particularly pigmented or bright eyeshadow, because otherwise the result will be too intense and artificial. Instead, choose a soft, dull color, such as champagne, baby pink, soft silver, or light brown. Apply it with a light hand, directly under the eyebrow. It will allow you to create more dimension in the brow area.
Step 5. Apply dark eyeshadow to the outer corner of the eye with a tapered blending brush
Focus on the crease of the eye to accentuate it even more and create more depth. Blend well, so that no sharp lines are created.
Step 6. Apply a light eyeshadow on the mobile lid
When it comes to drooping eyes, attention must be focused on the inner and outer corner, which is the most visible parts. In fact, the center of the mobile eyelid is completely hidden when the eyes are open. However, don't overlook it. Apply a light color, gently blending it with the darker one than the outer corner and the pearly one on the inner corner.
Part 3 of 3: Other Ideas to Enhance the Eyes
Step 1. Fill in your brows
In addition to applying eyeshadows, you can enhance the shape of your droopy eyes by applying good eyebrows to make them appear larger and elongated. Color in thin, sparse areas by applying a powder or gel product with an angled brow brush.
- Fill them by drawing short strokes, your aim is to reproduce the shape of the hair. Comb your eyebrows upwards to understand which parts need to be made up.
- In the case of downward eyes, it is very important to avoid stretching the tail of the eyebrow downwards. Pay special attention to make sure it is parallel to the outer corner of the eye. You shouldn't go over it or drop it down, because otherwise it will look like your eyelids are down.
Step 2. Apply black eyeliner to the outer corner of the eye
Instead of outlining it completely, apply it only on the outer corner, both at the upper and lower lashline. Use an eyeliner that can be blended, for example in pencil. Start applying it on the outer corner, moving it inwards to outline about 1/3 of the lower lashline. Then, repeat the same procedure at the top lashline.
- Blend the eyeliner with a straight-bristled brush. The goal of this step is to soften the line, making it uniform with the eyeshadow.
- Make sure you use smudge-proof eyeliner.
Step 3. Apply a clear, pearly eyeliner to the bottom of the inner corner of the eye
Remember that illuminating this area makes your eyes appear larger, alert and brighter. Together with the pearlescent eyeshadow you applied earlier, the eyeliner will help further combat drooping of the eyelids.
A pearl brown, bronze, gold or silver eyeliner will work for this step
Step 4. Curl your lashes and apply mascara
Start folding them from the roots, closing the curler for a few seconds on each eye. Curling the lashes upwards also helps to open the eyes. Then, apply your favorite mascara. If you have droopy eyes, it is possible that the product ends up on the browbone. Use a smudge-proof one to get thick, dark lashes, preventing them from staining the surrounding area.
