A cream eyeshadow is more difficult to apply than a classic one. Just like with all other things in makeup and life, perfection comes only from practice. Mastered the technique, you will get a lasting and satin result.

Step 1. Choose an eyeshadow
Cream can be difficult to apply. As you learn, go for neutral or nude tones, so you can easily remedy mistakes. Avoid waterproof variants until you have acquired good dexterity.
Step 2. Make sure the eyeshadow is usable by checking the expiration date on the package
Do not use it if it has dried out or separated from the sides of the container.
Step 3. Apply moisturizer and foundation (optional)
If necessary, wash your face. If you're in the habit of using a moisturizer and / or foundation before your eyeshadow, go ahead and apply the cream.
Oil-based moisturizers sometimes interfere with eyeshadow
Step 4. Apply an eye primer (optional) to prevent the eyeshadow from smudging
Once you have a good dexterity, you can skip this step, as the cream eyeshadow will adhere by itself. Let it dry before continuing.
If you don't have an eye primer, a thin layer of eyeshadow powder will do the trick. Use one of the same color as the cream one, the tone can be the same or lighter
Step 5. Choose the right tools
Clean fingers allow you to apply it better than other tools. If you're using a brush, make sure the bristles are synthetic. The natural ones absorb the water of the product, which can prevent it from being applied smoothly and over time even ruining the brush.
You can use a slightly damp sponge, but it will absorb some of the product
Step 6. Apply a veil of cream eyeshadow
Make a sweeping motion, as if you are spreading butter. Work quickly, otherwise the eyeshadow will dry out on your finger or brush. Then, keep your eyes closed for a few seconds, waiting for it to dry.
For a more noticeable effect, layer the eyeshadow. Let it dry between one pass and the next
Step 7. Blend it on the edges with clean fingers, this will warm up the eyeshadow and make it easier to blend it perfectly with the rest of the skin
Blend until you no longer notice coarse edges or jagged lines.
Step 8. Secure it with a thin layer of eyeshadow powder (optional)
If you have oily eyelids or intend to wear this makeup for a long time, you may want to fix it with a powder eyeshadow of the same tone. In this way the make-up will last much longer, even if you may lose the satin effect and some color shades.

- To create easy smokey makeup, you can layer multiple cream eyeshadows. Apply a dark color near the upper lashline, then lighten it progressively. Blend it well, otherwise lumps may form.
