Your mother does a lot of housework and you would really like to help her. How can you take part in housekeeping and make things easier for your hardworking mom without getting in the way?
Steps
Part 1 of 4: Taking Care of Your Spaces
Step 1. Keep your room clean
Keep track of your stuff and put it away when you're done using it. If you make a mess, put everything back in place.
If you have brothers or sisters, encourage them and / or help them clean their room as well
Part 2 of 4: Taking charge of some tasks
Step 1. Identify the tasks you can take care of that usually fall to your mother
Depending on your age and ability, you may not be able to cook an elaborate dinner for the whole family, but you may be able to organize a simple lunch.
Step 2. Ask your mother what she needs help with
She probably has suggestions for chores you could do for her.
Keep in mind that you are "helping" the whole family, including yourself. Your mom will appreciate the support, but it's not just her job to keep the house running and running smoothly; it is the responsibility of every member of the family, including basic chores for the little ones
Part 3 of 4: Changing the Family's Approach to Household Chores
Step 1. Gather the rest of the family and plan a "Day Off" for Mom
Divide the chores your mother usually does and choose a day to get them done in her place. Your mother will have the day to herself.
Step 2. Continue
Your mom probably works hard for you every day, so she might want your help whenever you can. After setting "Mother's Day Off," ask everyone to stick to their chosen tasks from then on.
Step 3. Always help Mom and she will be very happy
Step 4. Help your mother if she specifically asks
If she asks for your help, don't whine - give her a hand. He wouldn't ask you if he didn't really need your support.
Part 4 of 4: Specific Household Chores You Can Do
Step 1. Put the dishes in the sink after eating, be sure to rinse or wash the dishes and whatever you use
- Alternatively, put the dishes in the dishwasher. When you see it's full, set up a wash.
- Empty the dishwasher when it's finished washing. It is up to whoever comes across it first.
Step 2. Load the washing machine
Or at least, do your own laundry. Children can start taking care of their laundry from around 8 years. If you don't know how to remove stains, ask for advice to learn. When your clothes aren't stained, it's easy to pick them up, add washing powder or liquid detergent, and start the right wash cycle. The machine does most of the work, unlike 100 years ago when people washed everything by hand!
Step 3. Help prepare dinner
You never know; you may find that you are a budding chef. If you are really good at cooking first courses, main courses or special dishes, offer to prepare part of the meals or at least one dish regularly.
Step 4. Take care of the pets
Give them food, water, take them for a walk and brush them. Again, pets are everyone's responsibility in the family. As an added bonus, they become more attached and trusted to those who care for them in these ways, so spread the love!
Step 5. Take care of the floors
Vacuuming and washing is not difficult. These are methodical chores that, however, make a big difference by completely changing the look of a room, so enjoy your work.
Advice
Help your mother before asking her for specific tasks by doing chores you know how to do and can complete on your own
Warnings
- Don't try to "surprise" your mother by taking on a job you've never done on your own before. If you do this incorrectly, you may inadvertently make it more difficult for your mother.
- If you think you are helping your mother by bossing around your brothers, you are wrong. You actually cause her more stress because a fight always breaks out. If you know your brother gets angry when you tell him to do something, then leave him alone and wait for your mother to take care of it.
