Tissue paper flowers are suitable for many different occasions and uses, for example to decorate a gift box, beautify an environment, make an elegant dress for a party special. They are incredibly easy to make and give you the opportunity to choose from a large assortment of shapes and colors. Try one of these methods for making your own tissue paper flowers.

Steps

Method 1 of 4: Large Tissue Paper Flowers

Step 1. Arrange the paper

Spread the layers of tissue paper neatly on top of each other. Make sure the edges, sides and folds match. If the sheets don't match exactly it's not a big deal, but try to line them up as much as possible.

Step 2. Fold the paper

Accordion fold the sheets of tissue paper, making sure each fold is 2.5cm wide. Keep all the sheets of paper together as you fold them and continue until you have used up all the paper.

Step 3. Fold the sheets in half

Fold the sheets together to make them easier to unfold. Do this in each direction to create a rather flexible crease.

Step 4. Add the wire

Use the wire by wrapping it around the center of the flowers near the fold. Wrap it so that it holds the paper tightly, then twist the ends together to create a "knot" (ie, twist them).

Optional: Secure the thread with staples. Holding it in place, use a stapler to secure the wire to the accordion you just made with tissue paper, taking care to leave enough length for the stem

Step 5. Create the stem

Use the long end of the wire to create a stem on the flower. Make it long or short according to your preference, then cut off the excess. Alternatively, you can choose not to make the stem and cut the wire at the base of the knot.

Step 6. Open the flower

Starting at the top or bottom, fan the tissue paper to peel off the sheets, being careful not to tear them. Basically, you have to widen the accordion.

Step 7. Separate the petals

Once you have opened the accordion, adjust the petals by pulling them out and detaching them from each other. If necessary, straighten them one at a time.

Method 2 of 4: Tissue Paper Daisies

Step 1. Choose your card

In this version, you will need two colors or paper patterns: one for the petals and one for the middle. To create a classic daisy, use white paper for the petals and yellow paper for the center.

Step 2. Cut the paper

To make the petals, you don't have to cut the tissue paper, because you will use it completely in all its size. To make the center, however, cut the sheet of paper to about ¼ of its original length. You don't need to be precise, but if you prefer the center to be smaller, make shorter pieces or, if you want the center to be larger, cut them a little longer. You can use several pieces of paper to enrich the center.

Step 3. Give some texture to the center

Use the scissors to make many small parallel cuts vertically on the sheet of paper that will go to the center of the flower. The cuts, which run along the top and bottom, must be approximately ⅓ of the height of the sheet long. When you open the flower, it will expand in a fairly articulated way.

Step 4. Arrange the paper

Spread the paper upright on a table, placing the petal sheet on the bottom and the center sheet on top. They should have the same width and differ only in height. Insert the lower sheet in the center of the taller one. You should use at least two pieces of paper for the petals.

Step 5. Fold the paper

Start from one end and start making an accordion. To create large and wide petals, make the folds 5-7 cm wide. If you want a lot of small, delicate petals, the folds will need to be 2-3 cm wide, or even less. Continue folding the paper back and forth until the end.

Step 6. Place the wire in the center

Wrap a piece of wire around the center of the folded paper. Twist the two ends together to secure it, then cut off the remaining part. Even if you prefer the thread to be tight enough so it doesn't come off, don't pinch or bend the paper too much.

Step 7. Trim the ends

Use a pair of scissors to cut out a rounded semicircle at the end of the petals. When you open the card, classic shaped petals will protrude, rather than squared off.

Step 8. Open the card

Pull the edges of the paper out from the center, both above and below the wire. When you separate them, the two sides will meet, creating a circular shaped flower. Pull the center pieces of paper outward until you create a wispy section in the center.

Step 9. Display your daisies

Add a string to the wire in the center, or put some masking tape on the back to hang the flowers high. Show off your simple and enchanting tissue paper creations at your next party or friend gathering in the house!

Method 3 of 4: Tissue Paper Roses

Step 1. Choose your card

If you want to make small rosebuds, use strips of tissue paper cut to size. If you want them to be bigger, get the crepe paper you like best. You can use any color, print or paper texture you prefer.

Step 2. Cut the paper

You will need strips of paper that are 5 to 12 cm wide. To create a small rose, you will need less than 30 cm in length. For a wider, the length of the paper will need to be greater than 30cm.

Step 3. Fold the paper

Lay the paper straight and fold the top ¼ of its length down. You will get a long strip that will measure ¾ of the initial size. By lowering the top, you will have roses with full petals and regular edges.

Step 4. The squad begins

Wrap the paper from one end to the other and create a small spiral by rolling it inwards. Squeeze the base of the flower to form the bud.

Step 5. Finish the flower

Continue rolling the flower to the end of the paper. Turn the bottom section to form the base and use scissors to round the edge and give it a natural (rather than square) shape.

Step 6. Add the wire

Wrap some florist wire around the twisted base to keep the flower in place. You can shorten the wire and attach the rose to any decorative object, or, if it is long, cut the wire and use it as a stem.

Step 1. Get a whole piece of tissue paper

Place it in front of you in a central position.

If you are right handed, hold it with your left hand and roll counterclockwise; if you are left handed, on the contrary

Step 2. Fold the tissue paper in half

However, don't crumple it.

Step 3. Roll the tissue paper to one side

Step 4. Keep wrapping it until you get a thin and swollen end

Step 5. With the stapler, apply staples in the center, just below the swollen end

This way, the flower will stay still.

Step 6. Twist a pipe cleaner around the part where you stapled

Step 7. Wrap it tightly

It will act as a stem.

Optional: Add a leaf to the pipe cleaner

Step 9. Make a composition with all the tissue paper flowers you've made and display it around the house

Advice

  • Add some glue and glitter for a special finish.
  • Spray some fragrance on the tissue paper if you want to have scented flowers, or pour a few drops of essential oil in the middle of the petals.
  • You can use a pipe cleaner to create the stem, but also twisted ties, elastic and other types of material to attach to the center of the flower.
  • Cut the tissue paper into sections to make smaller flowers.
