Creating flowers is a great way to decorate a space. There is no need to spend a lot and it allows you to add a personal touch to a room. Toilet paper is very well suited for this purpose; you can easily make an object that is certainly interesting to use as a decoration. Also, you can color them or recycle the paper rolls to make other flowers.
Steps
Part 1 of 3: Simple Flowers
Step 1. Put the material together
This type of basic flower only requires a couple of things. Toilet paper and a pipe cleaner to clean the pipes. If you don't have a pipe cleaner, you can use a rubber band, a piece of ribbon, or a hair pin.
Step 2. Create the base of your flower
Take the toilet paper, from two to six pieces, depending on the thickness of the flower you want to make and stack them on top of each other. Arrange the squares of toilet paper on top of each other and tie them together in a bow. Take the pipe cleaner and wrap it twice very tightly around the center of the toilet paper. It will replace your fingers in supporting the previously created bow.
Step 3. Create the petals
Press and hold the center of the flower, where now there is the brush to hold everything. Use your other hand to knit the paper to give your flower petals a touch of creativity. You can join them, widen them, pull them, add volume or cut them in order to obtain the shape you prefer.
While you need to find out how far you can pull the paper to make the petals, be sure to proceed gently. Toilet paper tends to tear if you pull hard
Step 4. Repeat the process
Once you get the hang of it, it won't take you long to create the other petals. Repeat the process with different amounts of paper and start cutting different sections based on the type of flower you want to get. You can attach them to just about anything by wrapping the pipe cleaner around a frame. Try making a wreath or a bouquet of flowers to decorate the room.
Part 2 of 3: Dye the Flowers
Step 1. Prepare the color yourself
Simply pour a few drops of food coloring and two tablespoons of water into a flat plate. The more drops of food coloring you use, the stronger the color will be. To get a more natural effect, just a drop of dye is enough.
Step 2. Color the tips
Gently wet the ends of the flower in the dye. Hold it upside down until the petals dry. The dye will take 5 to 30 minutes to dry, depending on how deeply you soaked the flower.
Since you are using toilet paper, it will soak in the dye really very quickly. Keep this in mind when you wet the tips of the petals. Just lightly touch the color to quickly add color
Step 3. Use multiple colors
Use different dishes for each color. Once you get the hang of the coloring stage, you can try using different colors. Just gently roll the outer petals into one color and then dip the taller ones into the second.
Part 3 of 3: Using the Scrolls
Step 1. Gather the necessary materials
This type of flower looks more like a metal sculpture than the softness of flowers created with toilet paper. You will need empty toilet paper rolls, glue, a pen and a pair of scissors.
A hot glue gun is the ideal tool
Step 2. Flatten and mark the rolls
Take the rolls and squeeze them to flatten them. They will tend to revert to their original shape when you start using them, but squeezing them helps make sure the crease is noticeable. Once the rolls are flattened, use a pen to square the toilet paper roll into four parts.
Step 3. Create the petals
Cut along the previously marked lines so that you get petals of uniform width. Once you have all the petals you need, start modeling them. Encourage them to return to their original shape. Press the crushed parts. You should get an oval shaped card.
Step 4. Glue the petals together
Put glue along the bottom crease of one of the petals and glue it to the bottom crease of another petal. Keep it up, one at a time. For a traditional flower you need four to eight petals.
- Merge multiple flowers together to create an interesting piece. Paint it black with spray paint and hang it as if it were metal.
- Try gluing a piece of jewelry in the center of the flower.
