Making paper flowers is a great way to get creative, decorate your home, and give someone a gift. Flowers can be made using colored cardstock, napkins or origami paper. To be able to make paper flowers without any effort, just follow these instructions.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Simple Flower
Step 1. Cut the petals from a cardboard
Choose cardstock that is solid and a nice bright color - yellow, for example. Using scissors, cut at least six petals that are about 8 centimeters long. If you prefer, first draw the shape on the cardboard then cut along the outline of each petal, eliminating the mark of the marker. Alternatively, you can use the first petal as a template to cut out the others, or make six of them slightly different from each other - after all, even the real ones don't all have the same length.
- If you want to give your petals a more realistic look, you can roll them around a pencil to give them a slightly curved shape.
- An alternative to cardboard are napkins or a set of napkins and real petals.
- If you want a minus 3-D effect, cut a flower pattern with all six petals connected in the center.
Step 2. Create a unique heart for your flower
The center of the flower can be just any way you like it - done with a candy, some beads, or even a photograph of someone special. You can also cut a circle from a different colored card. You can also create a three-dimensional heart by balling up a piece of napkin and wrapping it with another napkin, keeping the edges down, so as to give it a rounded shape.
- Once you have chosen the center, assemble the corolla.
- Using a hot glue gun, tube or liquid glue, attach the petals to the heart. This should hold everything together and create a beautiful flower.
- If the center you have chosen is relatively small, you can also consider gluing the petals together before inserting the heart. The flower will be more resistant.
Step 3. Find the perfect "stem"
Look for a thin stick in the garden, use a Chinese chopstick, buy a real "stem" from a store, or paint a straw brown. The stem should be in proportion to the flower, so test first to make sure it's not too long or too short.
Using a wooden stick can give the flower authenticity, but remember that it may not be clean and, therefore, difficult to attach to leaves and petals
Step 4. Join stem and petals
Glue, tape or even staples can be used. If the petals are separated, you can staple them around the center and stem and then tape them to further secure everything. Hot glue is also useful for fixing a piece of paper over the petals and stem.
If you don't like duct tape, you can always paint it a color that matches the flower you are making
Step 5. Add the leaves
To make them, cut them out of cardboard by adding the veins with a brown marker, buy fake leaves at a store or try green feathers. To attach them to the stem you can use tape, the stapler (if the stem is a straw), or you can try with a drop of glue.
If you are happy with the result, why not make a whole bouquet? It can give an extra touch to your office or home
Step 6. Finished
Method 2 of 2: Layered Paper Flowers
Step 1. Take three sheets of colored paper
If you want your flower to look more cheerful, use different colors. Choose colors that go well with each other, like red, purple, and yellow. If they are similar like blue and purple they will end up getting confused. For a firmer flower choose cardboard, for a softer one, origami paper.
Step 2. Cut two different sized flowers from each sheet
One must be large and one medium. Follow the same or similar style for each flower. If you want, you can cut out a normal flower with four or five petals. If you prepare the three templates first, you can use them to draw the same shapes on each sheet.
Once finished, join the small flower of one color by placing it on the large flower of another. Break the petals out of the way so they don't overlap. You will end up with three flowers each of two different colors
Step 3. Insert a pipe cleaner in the center
Make a small hole first using a thin pair of scissors or a pin. Insert the pipe cleaner making a small piece (~ 1, 5 cm) protrude from the center. The pipe cleaner will act as a stem, so choose a fun color that matches the petals.
By folding the tip back on itself, the pipe cleaner will remain in the center of the flower. You can also attach a bead, a button or just pass it through the hole again, blocking it
Step 4. Spray the flower
Choose a scent to make your flower look authentic. Spray while holding it far enough away so you don't get the paper soaked.
Step 5. Arrange the flowers in a vase
Create a beautiful bouquet with flowers and place it in a colorful vase. You can always enrich it by making other flowers.
