This wikiHow teaches you how to compress Google Photos albums into a ZIP file and download it to your computer using a desktop browser.
Steps
Step 1. Open Google Takeout in a browser
Type takeout.google.com/settings/takeout in the address bar, then press Enter on your keyboard. The site will show you the list of all your Google accounts.
Step 2. Click on the gray button Deselect all
It is located at the top right and allows you to deselect all accounts.
Step 3. Scroll down and activate the Google Photos button
This will allow you to download the Google Photos data to your computer.

If you wish, you can click on the icon
and select the albums you want to download.
Step 4. Scroll down and click Next
It is a blue button located at the bottom left. Allows you to open the download options on a new page.
Step 5. Click on the blue Create Archive button
It is located at the bottom left and allows you to open the page to perform the download.
If you want, on this page you can also change the file type from ".zip" to ".tgz", change the maximum size of the archive to increase or decrease the compression rate or choose another method for downloading
Step 6. Wait for the file to be created
Google will compress the albums and prepare the download. Once ready, a blue button will appear with the word "Download".
Step 7. Click the Download button
The Google Photos file will be downloaded to your computer.
- If you are using Windows, you may be prompted to select the folder on your computer where you want to download the file.
- If you are prompted to verify your account, enter your password and click "Next" to start the download.
