All Pokémon lovers should know that there is a third Legendary Pokémon besides Palkia and Dialga: Giratina, the strongest wild Pokémon featured in the game. Read this article to find out how to catch Giratina. The Pokémon you encounter will be between levels 52 and 65 and Giratina will be level 70, so be sure to bring some very strong Pokémon with you.
Steps
Step 1. Defeat the "Elite Four"
Step 2. Fill your Pokédex, then get the "National Pokédex" from "Professor Rowan"
Step 3. Make sure you have access to "Route 214"
Step 4. Purchase "Scuro Ball", "Timer Ball", "Velox Ball" and "Ultra Ball" or use the ones you already have
If you have one, take a "Master Ball" with you. Select Pokémon that are at least level 50 or higher.
You will need to enter a cave, so the "Dark Balls" will be very useful to catch Giratina. However, even the "Ultra Balls" will do just fine
Step 5. Select a Pokémon that knows the special moves "Rock Smash", "Surf", "Rock Climb" and "Mudguard"
A good choice is a "Normal / Flying" type Pokémon, such as Staraptor, as Giratina's offensive moves (except "Slash") won't do it any damage. This choice will prove very useful as Giratina's "Dark Duff" move is very powerful.
Step 6. Look for the path that will take you to the section called "Source Path"
Remember that you will only be able to access this secret passage after having acquired the "National Pokédex".
Step 7. Follow the secret passage to "Source Greeting"
Step 8. Make your way through tall grass until you reach a rock face that you can climb using the "Rock Climb" special move
Move in circles in the grass until you come across a rock face that you can descend using the "Rock Climb" move. At the foot of the rock face you will find the entrance to a cave.
Step 9. Enter the cave called "Return Cave"
It was called this way because entering a room in the cave from another room and retracing the road backwards does not return to the area from which you started. In other words, the "Return Cave" is a real labyrinth.
Before being able to cross 30 rooms you will have to find 3 with a pillar inside. When you encounter a pillar, the total number of pillars you have already encountered will be shown at the top, while the total number of rooms you have visited will be shown at the bottom. Thirty rooms is a considerable number to reach and many users before reaching it have encountered 3 pillars and of course Giratina
Step 10. After encountering the third pillar you can choose to open any door there is
In this case you will automatically find Giratina waiting for you with a very powerful posture. Talk to Giratina and the battle will begin.
Step 11. Try to lower Giratina's health level as much as possible
It will need to reach the yellow part of the health bar, but it would be better if it reached the red part. Be careful not to weaken it too much, however. The "Ice", "Ghost", "Dragon" and "Dark" type moves are very effective. To slowly lower Giratina's health level, use moves like "Fire", "Water", "Electric", "Beetle", "Grass" and "Poison" to make sure you don't unduly weaken it.
Step 12. Once Giratina has reached the required level of health you can put it to sleep or choose to start using Poké Balls
If you run out of Poké Balls, lose the fight, or cause Giratina to pass out, start over. In case you are not an experienced player, before trying to catch a very rare Pokémon like Giratina you should save your game progress whenever you can. In this case you have the option to save the game before talking to Giratina
Step 13. Finished
After capturing Giratina, congratulate yourself on succeeding in an epic feat.
Advice
- You will need to have the "National Pokédex" for the "Source Trail" section of "Route 214" to be visible and accessible. Only in this way will you be able to meet and capture Giratina.
- Bring "Repellents", "Escape Ropes", "Revives" and "Potions" with you.
- If you've played Pokémon Black and White before, you'll know that the "Dragon Trio" is made up of Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina, which are three of Sinnoh's Legendary Pokémon (the other Legendary Pokémon are Regigigas, Arceus, and Darkrai).
- Before facing Giratina, capture a strong Noctowl outside the cave. Noctowl is immune to two of Giratina's special moves and can learn the "Hypnosis" move from the "Move Reminder" which will help you catch Giratina.
