Congratulations, you participated in the "Sinnoh Pokémon League" by beating all your opponents: now all you have to do to become the absolute champion is to defeat the infamous Elite Four. When there are many options available, it is difficult to select the right Pokémon to take with you into battle. This guide takes a detailed look at the Pokémon owned by the Elite Four to help you identify their weaknesses and earn you the edge you need to achieve your goal.
Steps
Step 1. Analyze the weaknesses of your opponents
Each member of the Elite Four specializes in using a specific type of Pokémon. Aaron likes to use "Bug" type Pokémon, Terrie prefers "Ground" type Pokémon, "Fire" type Volcano, while Luciano excels at using "Psychic" type Pokémon.
Since you won't be able to change your Pokémon team, when fighting with the Elite Four, you'll need to select a powerful but diverse group
Step 2. To fight Aaron, choose "Fire" or "Flying" type Pokémon
Unfortunately, there is no Pokémon that has both of these characteristics, so you will have to choose which one to adopt. If you decide to start combat with Chimchar, in its evolved form, it should hold out for most of the battle. Below is the list of Aaron's Pokémon team along with their weaknesses:

- Drapion: like "Dark" / "Poison". Weak against "Ground" type Pokémon.

All Pokémon that Terrie plays are weak when faced with a "Grass" type Pokémon. Torterra is a particularly effective choice if when you started the game you chose to join your team with Turtwig (Torterra is in fact the most advanced form of the latter). - Quagsire: type "Earth" / "Water". Weak against "Grass" type Pokémon (4x effectiveness).
- Hippowdon: like "Earth". Weak against "Grass", "Water", "Ice" type Pokémon.
- Sudowoodo: "Rock" type. Weak against "Fighting", "Ground", "Steel", "Grass" or "Water" type Pokémon.
- Whiscash: like "Earth" / "Water". Weak against "Grass" type Pokémon (4x effectiveness).
- Golem: "Earth" / "Rock" type. Weak against "Fighting", "Earth", "Steel", "Grass", (4x effective), "Water" (4x effective) or "Ice" type Pokémon.

In this case, the perfect choice falls on Gastrodon. If you picked Piplup in its most advanced form at the start of the game, it should ensure you get through much of this fight unscathed. Here is the list of Volcano's Pokémon team along with their weaknesses:
- Rapidash: "Fire" type. Weak against "Ground", "Rock" or "Water" type Pokémon.
- Infernape: "Fire" / "Fight" type. Weak against "Flying", "Ground", "Water" or "Psychic" type Pokémon.
- Steelix: "Steel" / "Earth" type. Weak against "Fighting", "Earth", "Fire" or "Water" type Pokémon.
- Lopunny: "Normal" type. Weak against "Fighting" type Pokémon.
- Drifblim: "Ghost" / "Flying" type. Weak against "Rock", "Ghost", "Electric", "Ice" or "Dark" type Pokémon.

"Fighting" type Pokémon have a good defense against "Psychic" type Pokémon, but they may prove useless after this fight. The attacks of a very strong "Dark" type Pokémon are very effective in this situation and could make you prevail very quickly. Spiritomb turns out to be a very good choice, but the possible options are really many. Here is the list of Luciano's Pokémon team along with their weaknesses:
- Mr. Mime: like "Psycho". Weak against "Bug", "Dark" or "Ghost" type Pokémon.
- Girafarig: "Normal" / "Psychic" type. Weak against "Bug" or "Dark" type Pokémon.
- Medicham: like "Psychic" / "Flying". Weak against "Flying" or "Ghost" type Pokémon.
- Alakazam: "Psychic" type. Weak against "Bug", "Dark" or "Ghost" type Pokémon.
- Bronzong: "Steel" / "Psychic" type. Weak against "Fire" or "Ground" type Pokémon. Note: Bronzong has the "Levitation" ability (which makes him immune to "Ground" attacks).

Camilla is the current reigning champion of the league and you will have to face her immediately after defeating the Elite Four. Togekiss is a great choice to field against Camilla's Spiritomb. Alternatively, modify your squad to fill the gaps that emerged during battles with the Elite Four and create a well-balanced group. Here is the list of Camilla's Pokémon team along with their weaknesses:
- Spiritomb: type "Ghost" / "Dark". Very few weaknesses, try using a "Fairy" type Pokémon.
- Garchomp: type "Dragon" / "Earth". Weak against "Ice" (4x effectiveness) or "Dragon" type Pokémon.
- Gastrodon: type "Water" / "Earth". Weak against "Grass" type Pokémon (4x effectiveness).
- Milotic: like "Water". Weak against "Grass" or "Electric" type Pokémon.
- Roserade: "Grass" / "Poison" type. Weak against "Flying", "Fire", "Psychic" or "Ice" type Pokémon.
- Lucario: "Steel" / "Fight" type. Weak against "Fighting", "Ground" or "Fire" type Pokémon.

Moves like "Surf", "Lightning Bolt", "Ice Beam", "Flamethrower" and "Earthquake" can be very effective against Elite Four's Pokémon when used in the right situation. Plus, your Pokémon will have more attack options. Moves that cause a change of state, such as "Toxin", "Thunder Wave" or "Sleeping Pill", as well as those that increase the value of the "Attack" and "Speed" stats, such as "Sword Dance" or "Dragodance", they can be very useful.

Legendary Pokémon, such as Palkia or Dialga, are always a great option, but if you don't have them available or don't want to use them at this juncture, there are numerous other viable options to create a strong and well-balanced team. The key to success is knowing how to switch Pokémon at the right moment of the fight to take advantage of the opponent's weaknesses. Good luck!
Advice
- Before facing the Elite Four, it can be useful to purchase a substantial amount of Revitalizer, Revitalizer Max, Potions of all kinds and Vitamins, as you will not be able to retrace your steps to go to a Pokémon Center or Pokémon Market between battles.. You might assume that your possessions are almost or completely sufficient already, but remember that you are about to face the Elite Four, so you will need a lot more resources than you imagine. It may be useful to replenish stocks in the city of Memoride as the prices are very affordable.
- Putting all the strategy on taking advantage of the weaknesses of the opposing Pokémon may not be enough: also try to increase the level of your Pokémon. The more they level up, the stronger they get. To make them level up faster, you can use a "Fortunuovo".
- Once you arrive in front of Camilla, you can no longer save game progress. The last chance you have to save the game is before facing Luciano.
- If your Pokémon has a "Coin Amulet" with it during the fight, you will earn double the money. It is one of the most profitable parts of the game.
- Always check that the strongest Pokémon on your team is at the top of the order. If you think during combat that the opponent's next attack will KO it, replace it with another Pokémon that you need less.
- If you're not going to lose your money and need a place to train your Pokémon in order to defeat the Elite Four, give the first Pokémon on your team a "Coin Amulet", then progress as far as possible without using any healing items. (making sure you win at least one fight). This way you won't lose even a fraction of your money, but you will continue to gain experience against high-level Pokémon.
- You should save your game progress before facing each member of the Elite Four. This way, in case of defeat, you can start over from the last fight.
- Go to the city of Evisopolis to purchase a large amount of "Vitalerba" (you can do it inside the house located near the Ancient Statue).
Warnings
- Playing Pokémon video games for an extended period of time can be frustrating; take a relaxing break every now and then.
- By losing to every member of the Elite Four, you would lose half of your finances and you will have to start over by repeating all fights entirely. To avoid this, remember to save your game progress before starting.
