This article explains how to prevent a friend from seeing some of your Facebook posts without removing them from your friends list.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Using a Mobile Phone or Tablet
Step 1. Open the Facebook application
The icon is represented by a white "f" on a blue background. If it has been installed, you will find it on the Home screen (iOS) or in the app drawer (Android).
If you don't have the app, open a browser (like Safari or Chrome) and visit https://www.facebook.com. Log in by entering your username and password when prompted
Step 2. Go to your friend's profile
You can do this by tapping "Friends" on your profile or by typing the name of the friend in question in the search bar at the top of the screen.
Step 3. Tap Friends
This option is located under your friend's profile photo.
Step 4. Tap Edit Friends List
Step 5. Select Restricted
Once your friend has been added to this list, they will only be able to see your public posts and posts in which they will be tagged.
- After adding it to the restricted list, your friend will not receive any notification about it.
- To remove it, go back to "Edit Friends List", then tap "Restricted".
Method 2 of 2: Using a Computer
Step 1. Open https://www.facebook.com in a browser
Use any one, like Safari, Firefox, or Chrome.
If you are not already logged in, enter your account details and click on "Log in"
Step 2. Go to your friend's profile
You can do this by clicking on "Friends" on your profile or by typing their name in the search box at the top of the screen.
Step 3. Click on Friends
This button is located next to your friend's name at the top of the screen.
Step 4. Click Add to another list…
Step 5. Select Restricted
A check mark will appear next to "Restricted". Added to the list, your friend will only be able to see your public posts and posts in which they will be tagged. You will not receive any notification once you put it on the list.
- To see the list, click on "Friends List" on the left side of the home page (in the section titled "Explore") and select "Restricted".
- To remove a person from the list, click on "Manage List" in the upper right corner, then select "Edit List".
