You've seen a beautiful sweater or video game featured, and now you absolutely must have it. You don't lack the money to buy it, but your parents don't want you to spend on what they consider nonsense. Here's how to buy what you want without them noticing.
Steps
Step 1. Tell your parents that you have started collecting points on the internet or at a store, which will allow you to get rewards when you reach a certain threshold
It will be a good excuse to justify all the new things you suddenly have. It would be better to show that you actually collect the points. Your parents may want proof of whether you were telling the truth. Remind them that thanks to this collection you will be able to receive products that cannot be found elsewhere, no matter how fake it is. In any case, do not use a promotion that they are also participating in. If you choose an item from a catalog or from an online store, tell us that it is a collection of points carried out on the web and that the package will soon arrive. That way, when the postman delivers it to you, they'll know what it is.
Step 2. Find an item you have long desired, avoid passing whims
If you can buy it in a shop or mall, it will be easier to complete the mission, while doing it through the catalog or on the internet will be a little more complicated.
Step 3. Find out the price of the item you want and save accordingly
It is always a good idea to set aside a nest egg, as you may need it in emergency situations.
Step 4. Keep your savings in a safe place and, if possible, exchange small coins and bills for higher value ones
It's obnoxious to walk around with one-euro or five-dollar bills, especially if you're going to buy an expensive item, like an electronic device.
Step 5. Go to the store or mall
If you live in a city or the store is nearby, you can easily go there by bike or skateboard. Is it far away or is it difficult to get there on foot? Try having a friend or someone else accompany you. In case an adult brings you there, don't tell them your parents don't know. Buy the item in the store of your choice and read Step 6.
- If the item you want is in a catalog or in an online store, it will be more difficult to buy it. First of all, identify how to purchase and send. It will usually arrive in the mail, so you will need to prepare your parents so that they are not taken by surprise.
- Send the money with a money order. Just go to the post office and pay for the item you want. However, remember that you will have to pay a small fee.
- Another solution is to use a prepaid card, such as PostePay.
- If these two options are not practical, you can buy a gift card containing the necessary funds to purchase the item you want; just enter the code online.
- Whichever method you choose, finalize the purchase order and send the money to the seller. If you don't feel like having the product delivered to your home, you can give your friend's address (but ask them first), so your parents won't know about it.
- Wait for the ordered product to arrive. The waiting time will depend on the departure location. Make a rough calculation and check the post before yours do. If, however, you are in charge of receiving the mail, better this way.
- When the product finally arrives, hide it immediately. If you can, try to open the package and take the item to your room without your parents knowing. This will allow you to avoid uncomfortable questions. You have no other choice and will your parents see it anyway? Remember to use the excuse of collecting points. If you can, open the package when you are alone, this will make it easier for this lie to work.
Step 6. Now that you have received your product, you will probably need to hide it
If it is an object that you absolutely do not want to show to your parents and it is a little unusual, it is essential to do so. The best place to hide it is in a place where no one will ever go rummaging, for example under a chest of drawers or behind a piece of furniture. It will have to be safe, parent-proof. The parts of your room that haven't been dusted (you can tell because you'll notice a finger of dust and objects that haven't been moved in ages) are usually the best. Avoid drawers or other accessible places where you usually store your stuff. One day your father may need something, go into your room unaware and find an unexpected object. Also, stay away from places like under the bed - it's a very old and rather predictable hiding place. If you don't have a compelling reason to hide it, then it's best to leave it around carelessly. In case of danger, remember the excuse of collecting points. Either way, don't talk about it or flaunt it. With a bit of luck, your parents will forget about it and won't mention it.
Step 7. Use this item you've wanted so long, but don't get caught red-handed
Use it or play it when your parents are not at home, otherwise take it with you when you go out with your friends.
Step 8. If your friends ask you how you bought it, tell them you have been saving for a few months
However, if you want to be honest, tell the whole truth, at least to those you trust.
Advice
- Do not use credit cards: it is possible to trace the expenses made, and therefore it will be easy to understand that it was you who spent a certain amount. In this case, the excuse of collecting points is useless. Try to use cash for in-store purchases and money orders for catalog or online purchases.
- Delete the history from the browser after reading this article and making the purchase. This will destroy the evidence of your internet activities.
- If you buy through a catalog or an online store, avoid having the product sent to you by courier. Typically this process requires a signature, and if you are not at home, your parents will see the package and may open it out of curiosity.
- You should have the package shipped to a friend's house (after asking permission of course!).
- Use common sense and be cautious. If your parents get suspicious, and not a little, and you don't think you can lie, it would be better to take this weight off you and tell the truth.
- If your parents notice that you are behaving strangely and suspect something, it's best to let it go and confess.
Warnings
- Hide the receipts. If your parents find them, they will find out and you will be forced to tell where you bought the item.
- You always run the risk of being caught red-handed, and they could put you in punishment.
- Beware of online scams. Do some research on the shops you find on the web if you are unsure of their legality. Google is your friend.
