If you've been to a casino and seen someone roll the dice, you've definitely wanted to play. Craps is a game where everyone (except the dealer) can win together and when everyone is winning things get very interesting. There are many chances of winning when playing Craps. Despite this, the Craps table might seem very complicated. This is a fairly large table, with a bunch of odd numbers and phrases in which there can be up to 20 players and 4 employees. Actually Craps is a very simple game.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: How to prepare
Step 1. You need to know the staff
When you sit down at a game table you need to know who you are dealing with. As Craps is a more money-spinning game than a common casino game, be prepared to deal with a lot of employees.
- If you walked into a casino right now, you would find that the table would have a double layout. On one side of the table, in the center (near the opening) is the "boxman," - he controls the game and manages the money (much more money than is circulating in the Republic of Congo). On the opposite side is the "stickman" - he uses the cue to move the dice. In addition, the stickman checks the time of the game, tells the results, uses the dice and encourages people to make a decision.
- Next to the stickman there are 2 clerks who take care of the bets, pay the winners and collect the losers' money. They are surrounded by your new friends, the players.
Step 2. Get comfortable at the table
Casinos are not made to scare people - The Craps table becomes very simple after studying it for a few minutes. Here are the basics:
-
Around the table there is a line called "Pass". This is for those who bet in favor of the shooter. The other "Don't Pass" line is for those who are against the shooter.
You will see areas that say "Come" and "Don't Come." These are like the two lines listed above, but will be used later
-
Between the boxman and the stickman there is an area of propositions or "one-roll" bets. There, you bet on a specific bet. Nearby is the hard-way betting area. There, it is where you bet, for example, that an 8 will form with two 4s before a 7 or a "soft" 8 will.
-
In front of the players there is a section called "Field." Here you make one-roll bets by choosing the next number that will come up. The areas marked 4, 5, Six, 8, Nine and 10 are for the "Place" or "Buy" of the bets and you choose the number that will come out before the next 7.
The number 6 "six" and the number 9 "nine", being written in full, make it easier for players to read from both sides of the table
-
In the corners of the table there are 6 and 8 - It is often wagered that a 6 or an 8 arrives before the 7.
Step 3. Learn common expressions
"Output. Bet hard ways. How about the C and E? Here comes the hot pitch, play the field. No mo 'on the yo? "Did you get some? Probably, this is what you will learn during a game of Craps. At first this will surprise you, but then in no time you will learn to hate those" Skinny Dugans ". a list to start with:
-
Craps - 2, 3, or 12
Yo, or Yo-leven - 11
C and E Craps - 11
Snake Eyes - Two 1s
Boxcars - Two 6
Little Joe, or Little Joe from Kokomo - 4 (specifically 1 + 3)
Jimmy Hicks - number 6
Skate and Donate - 8
Skinny Dugan - the underdog number 7
Center Field - 9, because it is located in the center of the 7 numbers in the betting area
Puppy Paws - Due 5 - The most common call "Hard 10," or "10, the hard way"
Natural Winner - 7 or 11 on the outgoing bet
Step 4. Become superstitious
Like all greedy players, if you want your money don't mock the gods. Avoid certain habits in order to look like a professional player and not send others away while glaring at you.
-
Most superstitious players think it's bad for you to change dice in the same game. If a player accidentally drops the dice off the table, you may hear him say "The same dice!".
-
If you call "Seven!", Don't be offended if everyone runs away. It would be like doing at the Macbeth theater. The word is unthinkable and unpronounceable.
-
If you see a penny under the table, leaving it alone is a good omen. Or so some would say.
-
If you're rolling, don't roll both dice in the air. It is more professional to just cast one; if you throw them both, get ready for some dirty looks and a run to the exit.
Method 2 of 3: Betting
Step 1. Bet before the game
When you start the game there will be a disc called a “buck” on the table, with “OFF” written on it. This means that no "points" have been awarded (this will be explained later). The game does not begin until the shooter has placed a bet on the "pass line." After that, everyone can bet on the "pass line", although it is not mandatory. This is the most common bet. The first roll of each play is called a “come out” roll.
-
If, at the "come out" throw, a 7 or 11 comes out, the shooter wins together with all those who have bet on the "pass line". If a 2, 3 or 12 comes up - it's called "craps" - everyone who has bet on the "pass line" loses.
On the other hand, whoever has bet against the shooter wins with 2 or 3, but with 12 is excluded (you don't win or lose, draws)
- All other numbers are "points."
Step 2. Play the points
If the shooter scores points, with a 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10, all pass line bets remain unchanged. There is no need to bet again. The dealer will place the buck on the point number.
- Suppose the score is number 8. Now the shooter scores "points" (number 8) before a 7 is rolled. If 8 is rolled, the shooter and everyone who has played on the "pass line" win otherwise not. nothing happens. So if an 8 is rolled, you start over with a new roll, repeating the cycle. If a 7 is rolled, the shooter and the players on the pass line lose and the next player passes (so the first player is said to have "sevened out").
- You can make several points before a 7 is rolled, or the number 7 may come up right after the first point. You can never predict what will happen.
Step 3. The "odds" (combination) bets
Through the previous steps you can already play Craps. Betting on the pass line is convenient and easy. Some, in fact, only bet like this. However, there are many other ways to play. A convenient and easy type of bets are bets called "odds".
- After the shooter has made a point, other bets can be made behind the pass line. This would be an "odds" bet that can only be made by players who have already bet on the "pass line". Odds bets are bets to raise the initial bet, so that both bets are won when you win.
-
However, these bets pay according to the combination that will form the number, which is different according to the "point". For example, for 4 there are only 3 combinations, while there are 5 for number 8. So being easier to win on number 8 than on 4, you will win more money on a score of 4, while betting on the pass line "Pay the same way. So if you want to win more money, place "odds" bets.
Many casinos allow you to raise twice with odds bets, while others allow you to bet more money
- You can increase or decrease the amount of "odds" bets at any time.
- If number 7 comes up, you lose all your bets.
Step 4. Place a “come” bet
When the first point comes up, you can make a type of bet called "come" in addition to the "pass line" bet. Note that to make an "odds" or "come" bet you must first play on the "pass line". The “how” bet is placed in the area of the table marked “Come”. The “come” bet will be effective on the next roll of the dice, following the same rules as for a normal game. This bet is individual and wins if the number seven is rolled on the first roll (following the same rules as the initial bet) but thus losing all other bets placed together with the others.
- If after your “come” bet you have any numbers other than 2, 3, 7, 11, or 12, the number will be considered as a “score like”. The dealer will move your bet on the score made. Your pass line bet will always depend on the points scored by the shooter, so you will have two scores for the two bets.
- The "how" bet works like the "pass line" bet. If the shooter scores your “like” points before rolling a 7, you win, but if the shooter rolls a 7 first, you lose all bets. If the shooter scores before a 7, you both win.
- You can place combinations to your “come” bets. Just tell the dealer "odds on come" when you bet.
- You can continue to raise on your “come” bet based on the score.
Step 5. Move on to more sophisticated bets
Now you have the basics to move on to the more risky bets. These are “field” bets - bets on a particular number (on the next roll of the dice). There is no need to wait for the bet, you can bet even earlier using a token, placing it in the area of the table marked "Field". Similarly, you can make "propositions" or "hard ways" by placing a chip or more than one by telling the "dealer" what bet you want.
- 7, 6 and 8 are the numbers that come out most frequently. There are 6 combinations to make a 7 and 5 to make a 6 and an 8. If the player bets on the 6 or 8 in multiples of $ 6, the dealer will pay the bets with combinations of 7-6. This means the house percentage is 1.52%, better than other bets (casino-wide) and quick to make - but they are not as reliable as “come” and “pass” bets with no combinations.
- The 4, 6, 8 and 10 are the hard ways numbers. This is if one of these numbers is rolled on both dice. If, therefore, you bet "hard ways" (two 2s, two 3s, two 4s, two 5s) the numbers must come up before a 7 or any other combination. The bank's percentage is 11.1% for 4 and 10 and 9.09% for 6 and 8..
Method 3 of 3: Playing
Step 1. Put the chips on the table
Don't give them to the “dealer”; place the money (before the shooter has the dice) and ask the dealer only the change. The dealer is not allowed to take your money by hand.
You can tip the dealer, but always tip with chips
Step 2. Participate actively and with discipline
Although Craps is a team game, there are some things to consider when not rolling the dice, as well as when rolling them.
-
You can make pass / don’t pass, odds, field, and how bets. Put money on the table properly. For other bets, place your money on the table and tell the dealer what bet you want. After that, take your hands off the table. Craps is a very, very smooth game, it is good to create problems.
Put the chips in the edge of the hollow table - that's what it's for. Put them in front of you and don't lose sight of them. Even though Craps is a team game, it doesn't mean someone can't steal some from you
- In general, cheer on the shooter and the winning number. If you're in favor of the shooter, cheer as hard as you can. In a casino, it is common to hear the roar coming from the Craps table. However, if you aimed at the "don't pass" shooter, keep the enthusiasm inside you. You wouldn't like it if someone cheered on you, would you? Otherwise you will not be welcome at the Craps table.
- If you roll the dice, throw them from the other side of the table and not along the sides - the staff want to see the dice clearly as you roll them.
Step 3. Roll the dice
In fact, you can play Craps without ever having to roll the dice. When it's your turn you can not pull them if you want. But Craps is a game of dice, so in case you are feeling lucky, you need to know how to roll them. When it's your turn, the "stickman" will give you 4 or more dice, you will choose 2 to roll and the "stickman" will pick up the others.
- Hold the dice with one hand. This is a fundamental rule to avoid cheating. When it's your turn, roll the dice from the other side of the table until they touch the edge.
- If a die or both fall off the table, you must roll again. The Craps table is quite large so you have to roll the dice hard and not like you would in a table game.
Step 4. Play cautiously with the most common bets
You could also bet on particular numbers or make even more complex "propositions". To begin with, you still need to familiarize yourself with the simpler bets to learn well. Craps is a very smooth game, so you have to understand how it works in order not to think about it too much. After that, you will be ready to try more complex bets and study other strategies.
With simpler bets you will have more chances to win, but to win more money you have to make more risky bets. With the most risky bets you can lose very quickly so if that is the strategy you have adopted, you must have a lot of money
Step 5. Know your odds
As in all casinos, the dealer always has an edge. The number 7 comes out very easily on the dice - and therefore the dealer has an extra edge. Therefore you need to know your risks and advantages when betting.
- The dealer has a percentage of 1.41% on a "pass" bet and 1.4% on a "don't pass". Many players bet on the "pass line" because doing so creates a team game. These are called "right bettors,"; those who bet against the shooter are called "wrong bettors."
- Players who bet on "pass / don't pass" can raise with "odds" bets, which is equivalent to raising with a Pass / Come bet with an odds bet. For example, if the point is 4 or 10, you win $ 5 by betting on don't pass and you can bet another $ 10 to win $ 5 if the 7 rolls before scoring 2 points (2-to-1 odds). This is not very convenient but remember that when a point is made, those who place Don't Come bets will win more often. Also, those who make bets don't like and raise with odds, lower the house percentage to.7% for one odds and to 5% for double odds.
- A bet in Craps (propositions), for example, wins if you have the number 2, 3, or 12; gets lost with the other numbers. The house percentage on these bets is huge: 16.67% on 7, 13.9% on 2, 13.9% on 12, 11.1% on 3, 11.1% on craps, 16.67% on 2 or 12, 16.67% on 3 or 11, 11.1% on 11. So, bet like this if you want to "lose" money.
Advice
- The people at the table can help you understand the game better by giving the dealer more time alone.
- There may be differences in the rules between one casino and another, in particular on how much you can bet on certain bets. These rules are normally found displayed at the table. Ask the dealer if you are unsure. If, naively, you make a mistake, the dealer will tell you right away without any problems.
- The secret is to understand the rules for winning and the difference between a starting roll and the rolls that set the points
- You can make "pass / don't pass" bets. These bets work like those on the "pass line" and those "like" but winning when the dealer wins.
- It is good to wait until the end of the game. Depending on the moment, there may be many "moves" between one game and another.
- If you tip the dealer, he will remind you when to bet. Which he should do anyway, but your tip will stick to his mind.
- Some casinos offer lessons to explain games such as Craps. In no time, you could learn how to play really well.
Warnings
- Gambling can be as dangerous as drugs. If you think you have become addicted, stop immediately and contact competent personnel.
- Always remember that, in a casino, the odds of losing are greater than the winnings. Even though with the easier bets you have a good chance of winning, Craps is still a game of luck and the dealer certainly does not lose money on it.
