This article explains how to prevent people from tagging you in Instagram photos and videos without your approval using an iPhone or iPad. While people can still add your username to their posts, the tagged post will not appear in the "Posts where they've tagged you" area of the profile, unless approved by you.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Apply for Manual Approval
Step 1. Open Instagram on your iPhone or iPad
The icon features a colorful camera with the tag "Instagram". It is usually found on the main screen.
On Instagram, any user in a post can tag you, unless they have been blocked. Use this method if you don't want posts you are tagged in to be added to the "Posts tagged you" section of your profile
Step 2. Click on your profile icon
It features a human silhouette (or your profile photo, if you have one set) and is located in the lower right corner of the screen. Your profile will then be opened.
Step 3. Press on ≡
This button is located in the upper right corner of your profile.
Step 4. Select Settings
This option is located at the bottom of the screen.
Step 5. Scroll down and select Post They Tagged You In

Step 6. Swipe the "Add Automatically" switch to turn it off
Once you disable this feature, the posts you are tagged in will not be added to the "Posts tagged you" section unless you manually approve them.
To manually approve a post you've been tagged in, tap on the notification (the message that warns you about the tag) and then follow the onscreen instructions to accept the tag
