Are you tired of feeling immature? Do you want to take your maturity level to a much higher level? Here are some simple tips that will help you stop being immature.
Steps
Step 1. Start by wearing better clothing if you aren't already
Get rid of baggy pants. This doesn't mean you should go out in high-class suits, but try to wear clothing with no logos or lettering. Obviously when attending formal events dress appropriately. Never wear jeans or t-shirts. For boys, a suit is suitable for the occasion; for girls an evening dress. Consider the type of event: if it is a serious event, do not wear a flamboyant floral dress, but dress soberly. You don't have to wear black, but you don't have to wear bright pink.
Step 2. Follow table etiquette
While you eat, chew with your mouth closed and in silence. Nobody likes to hear the sound of chewed food. Don't gorge yourself, take one bite at a time. Clean your mouth regularly with a napkin. Always remember to say "Excuse me" and "Thank you".
Step 3. Don't be stupid and don't waste time
In class, don't chat with your classmates and don't chew gum. Follow the teacher. If she doesn't like you for now, you will see that she will start to like you and behave kindly to you if you do the same. If something funny happens - for example, someone falls off their chair - check yourself. Don't laugh too much or too loudly.
Step 4. Don't fight and don't fight
If someone disagrees with you, don't lose your mind. If you start swearing, yelling and hitting, people will no longer see you as a mature person.
Step 5. Be sociable and kind
Smile at people and help those in need. If someone drops their book, pick it up. If someone's sharpener falls off the counter and the shavings spread to the ground, it helps to clean and tidy up. Be cheerful and friendly.
Step 6. Don't use swear words and slang
If you don't hear what someone is saying to you, instead of "What?" you say "Excuse me?". If you don't understand the directions to somewhere, instead of "huh?" you say "could you repeat please, I didn't hear right". Refine your vocabulary. Instead of "Do you want me to help you?" you say "Would you need a hand?". Swearing is absolutely forbidden.
Step 7. Don't get dirty
Don't roll on the ground and don't get dirty. This doesn't mean you should give up the sport, but don't get dirty when it's not necessary.
Step 8. Don't whimper and brag
Having a tantrum with your parents because you want to get something will get you nowhere. Showing that you are mature, on the other hand, will make a difference. Complaining is absolutely immature, so you shouldn't do this.
Step 9. Have good personal hygiene
Wash at least once a day and wash your hands after going to the bathroom. When you're about to sneeze, grab a tissue. When you cough, respect others and cover your mouth with your arm. If you are going through puberty, respect other people's sense of smell and use some deodorant.
Step 10. Take other things into consideration as well
What are other obvious signs of immaturity? Eliminate them from your life. What are the obvious signs of maturity? Welcome them into your life.
Step 11. Be organized
If you have a messy desk, people won't trust your way of taking care of things. Take some time to tidy up your workstation.
Step 12. Be responsible
Wash your dishes after dinner. Clean the cat litter box and dining table. Water the plants. Doing these things will make your parents happy.
Step 13. Be happy
As you become mature, your parents will give you more freedom!
Step 14. Don't fool
Do not mock anyone and do not lower yourself to the level of those who carry around: do not mislead and do not be misled, do not bully and do not suffer from a bully. "Temptations" are dangerous and can get you into trouble, but if you can suppress them your mind will be stronger and more stable in the face of more important situations.
Step 15. Don't get angry
When something makes you angry, step away from that situation and take some time to calm down. Do some activities to distract yourself.
