This article explains how to log in to the web or desktop version of WhatsApp. The authentication process involves scanning a QR code with your mobile device that will be displayed on the web page or within the WhatsApp program for desktop or laptop systems. It should be noted that the WhatsApp QR code scanner cannot be used to scan codes other than those proposed for logging in directly from the website or computer program. However, you can still use one of the many apps for your mobile device that can scan a regular QR code.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: iOS devices
Step 1. Log in to the WhatsApp website
Paste the URL https://web.whatsapp.com/ into the address bar of your computer's internet browser. Until you have logged into your WhtasApp account, within the indicated web page you will only see the instructions to perform with the social network app for mobile devices and a black and white QR code.
If you want to use the WhatsApp client for computer, start the program instead of using the web version. The QR code to be used for authentication will be displayed in the center of the window that will be displayed
Step 2. Launch the WhatsApp app on your iOS device
Touch the relative icon, characterized by a white telephone handset placed inside a green balloon.
If you haven't already signed in to your WhatsApp account using the mobile app, you will need to verify your mobile number before you can continue
Step 3. Go to the Settings tab
It features a gear and is located at the bottom right of the screen. The WhatsApp "Settings" menu will appear.
If after starting the WhatsApp app the page of one of the chats you are participating in is directly displayed, you will first have to press the "Back" button located in the upper left corner of the device screen
Step 4. Choose the WhatsApp Web / Desktop option
It is listed at the top of the appeared menu.
Step 5. Tap the OK link, I understand when prompted
This will start the QR code scanner integrated within the WhatsApp app.
If you have already logged in to WhatsApp using the web client or Desktop on any other computer, you will need to tap on the item first Scan code, located in the center of the screen.
Step 6. Point the main camera of the device at the QR code image
The distance between the device and the computer screen should be approximately 30 cm.
Step 7. Wait for the QR code to be scanned automatically
At the end of this operation, the WhatsApp web or desktop client will be updated and the same graphic interface of the mobile device app will appear on the screen, within which the list of all your chats and related messages will be visible.
Method 2 of 2: Android devices
Step 1. Log in to the WhatsApp website

Step 2. Launch the WhatsApp app on your Android device
Touch the corresponding icon characterized by a white telephone handset placed inside a green balloon.
If you haven't already signed in to your WhatsApp account using the mobile app, you will need to verify your mobile number before you can continue
Step 3. Press the ⋮ button
It is located in the upper right corner of the screen. The main WhatsApp menu will appear.
If after starting the WhatsApp app the page of one of the chats you are participating in is directly displayed, you will first have to press the "Back" button in the upper left corner of the device screen to view the main screen of the program
Step 4. Tap the WhatsApp Web entry
It is one of the options listed within the main WhatsApp menu. This will start the QR code scanner integrated within the WhatsApp app.
Step 5. Tap the OK link, I understand when prompted
You are now ready to scan the security QR code.
If you've already logged into WhatsApp using the web or desktop client on any other computer, you'll need to tap the button first ＋ located in the upper right corner of the screen.
Step 6. Point the main camera of the device at the QR code image

Advice
- If you wait too long before scanning the QR code displayed on the WhatsApp website, you will need to update it because it will have lost its validity. Simply click the link Click to reload the QR code placed inside the green circle visible in the center of the box where the QR code is shown.
- If necessary, you can force the logout of all devices currently connected to your WhatsApp account by following these instructions: access the section WhatsApp Web / Desktop of the WhatsApp app and tap on the item Disconnect from all devices.
