This article explains how to enable geolocation on an Android device to have the ability to use GPS in an app or service.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Using the "Quick Settings" Panel
Step 1. Swipe down from the top of the screen
Place your finger on top of the screen and swipe it down. This will open the "Notification Center" in a drop-down panel.
It is not necessary to unlock an Android device to open the "Notification Center"
Step 2. Tap the "Quick Settings" icon
It depicts a small gear surrounded by white squares and is located at the top right of the "Notification Center". Allows you to open the "Quick Settings" menu in the drop-down panel.
If you tap the larger gear icon, the "Settings" screen will open
Step 3. Click on Geolocation in the "Quick Settings" panel
Once activated, the icon will turn white or blue. This option activates all geolocation services on the mobile and tablet.
- Depending on the version of Android you are using, the icon may represent a pin or a globe.
- On some versions of Android this option is called "GPS".
Method 2 of 2: Using the "Settings" app
Step 1. Open the Android application menu
It is a list of all the applications installed on the mobile or tablet.
Step 2. Tap the icon
in the application menu.
You will then be able to open the "Settings" screen.
Step 3. Swipe down and tap Location in the "Settings" menu
This option is located next to a pin icon in the "Personal" section.
If you don't see the "Location" option in the "Settings" menu, search for "Privacy and security". The "Geolocation" item is found in this section on some versions of Android
Step 4. Swipe the button to activate it (

This button is located at the top right of the menu and allows you to activate all the geolocation services on your mobile and tablet.
