This wikiHow teaches you how to create a new application folder on the home screen or in the app menu. It also shows how to organize multiple applications in the same folder using an Android OS device.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Organize the Home Screen
Step 1. Open the main screen of your Android device
Unlock it with the security code or press the home button to see the main screen.
Step 2. Tap and hold the app you want to move
This will allow you to move the app icon on the main screen.
Step 3. Drag the icon to another application
This will create a new folder, grouping both apps inside it. The contents of the new folder will automatically appear on the screen.
Step 4. Edit the name of the new folder
Tap the field Enter folder name at the top of the pop-up window and write the name.
Step 5. Tap and drag other applications to the folder
If you want to move another app to the same folder, tap and hold its icon, then drag it into it.
Method 2 of 2: Organize the Application Menu
Step 1. Open the app menu on Android
The application icon usually looks like a square made up of dots. You can find it on the main screen.
Step 2. Tap the ⋮ icon
It is located at the top right of the app menu. Tapping it will open a drop-down menu with various options.
Step 3. Tap Edit in the drop-down menu
This will allow you to rearrange the applications in the menu.
- The name of this option may vary depending on the version of Android used. For example, it can be called Rearrange app.
- On some phones and tablets it may be necessary to set the app menu to custom view mode before it can be changed. In this case, tap the button App at the top of the menu and select the view mode Personalized.
Step 4. Tap and hold an app in the apps menu
This will select it and you can move it around the menu.
Step 5. Drag the application icon to another app
This will create a new folder, which will be opened to show you its contents.
Step 6. Tap and drag multiple applications to the new folder
If you want to group multiple apps into the same folder, simply drag and drop the icons into it to the applications menu.
