Universities and employers are eager to see examples of people who have been engaged in volunteer work at school.

Warnings
- Remember to be sociable with other class representatives. You are helping to help the school itself and its students: with good communication between you, your work will be much easier.
- If a task assigned to you is too demanding or inconvenient, it is much better to discuss it with the school representative than to simply not perform the task.
- Don't use your position to intimidate other students and to be bossy. Being a class representative does not justify bullying. At best, a class representative can be reported to the school in the same way as other bullying cases, and class representatives who abuse their position are most likely removed from office and punished in the same way as other regular students. In the worst case scenario, the punishment could be heavier in proportion to the greater responsibilities of class representatives than other students.
- If they find you breaking or not enforcing the rules, you will send a contradictory message and risk losing your position as a representative. Even if you don't have the responsibility to enforce the rules, you have to abide by them first.
- Limit your responsibilities. If there is an issue that you are not sure you are responsible for, ask a teacher.
