The mashed potatoes in flakes facilitates the preparation of this dish a lot. You can prepare it on the stove using a saucepan or in the microwave using a bowl. In the first case you will have to cook water, butter, salt and milk before incorporating the mashed potatoes in flakes. Before serving, beat it with a fork. Also consider that you can flavor it with sour cream, garlic powder, cheese, or herbs.

- 1 g of salt
- 1 1/2 tablespoons (20 g) of butter or margarine
- ½ cup (120 ml) of milk, chicken broth, vegetable broth or water
- 1 cup (60 g) of instant puree flakes
Doses for 3 servings
Steps
Method 1 of 3: On the Fire
Step 1. Pour the water, salt and butter into a saucepan
Put a 1-liter pot on the stove, then pour 1 cup (250 ml) of water into it. Incorporate 1 g of salt and 1 1/2 tablespoons (20 g) of butter or margarine.
Step 2. Bring the water to a boil
Adjust the heat to medium-high and bring the water to a boil. The butter should melt and mix with the water.
Step 3. Turn off the heat and stir in ½ cup of milk
If desired, you can replace it with ½ cup (120 ml) of chicken broth, vegetable broth or water.
Step 4. Incorporate the instant puree flakes and let it rest for 30 seconds
Measure 1 cup (60 g) of instant puree flakes and pour it into the pot. Stir well to make the flakes absorb the liquid. Let them rest for about 30 seconds to rehydrate and expand well.
Step 5. Beat the puree and serve it
Take a fork and gently whisk the puree. Divide it into 3 portions and serve immediately.
Leftovers can be stored in the fridge in an airtight container for 3-5 days
Method 2 of 3: In the Microwave Oven
Step 1. Pour the water, salt, butter and milk into a bowl
Take a medium sized container suitable for microwaves, then pour in 1 cup (250 ml) of water and ½ cup (120 ml) of milk. Incorporate 1 g of salt and 1 1/2 tablespoons (20 g) of butter or margarine.
Milk can be replaced with chicken broth, vegetable broth or additional water
Step 2. Incorporate the instant puree flakes
Pour 1 cup (60g) of instant puree flakes into the bowl and mix with the liquids until just absorbed. Put a lid on the bowl.
The lid can be replaced with a microwave-safe dish that is large enough to cover the bowl
Step 3. Cook the instant puree in the microwave for 2.5 to 3 minutes
Place the bowl in the microwave and cook the puree on full power for 2.5 to 3 minutes.
Step 4. Stir and serve the puree
Carefully remove the hot bowl from the microwave using oven mitts. Remove the lid and stir the puree with a fork. Serve it while it is hot.
Transfer the leftovers to an airtight container and put them in the fridge. They need to be used within 3-5 days
Method 3 of 3: Variants to Try
Step 1. Include the garlic powder
Before heating the water, add ½ teaspoon (1.5 g) of garlic powder to flavor it. Avoid using freshly chopped garlic, as it may cook unevenly, not to mention that it does not dissolve as effectively as powdered garlic.
Step 2. Add some sour cream to the puree
Once the purée has cooked (on gas or in the microwave), add 230 g of sour cream. This ingredient makes it even richer and creamier.
You can also use plain yogurt or a few spoonfuls of cream cheese
Step 3. Replace the water with a dairy product
The water can in fact be replaced with a richer ingredient, such as liquid cream or evaporated milk. Since the fats help bind the flakes better, the instant puree will have an even creamier taste and an even smoother texture.
Step 4. Top the instant puree with cheese and herbs
Sprinkle a generous handful of shredded cheddar cheese, grated Parmesan, or crumbled blue cheese. You can also add chopped fresh chives or parsley to enhance the flavor of the potatoes.
