Unity is a graphics engine for the development of 2D and 3D video games compatible with PC and Mac much appreciated by experts in the sector. This article explains how to update the program. If you are using Unity Hub, the updates will be installed automatically.
Steps
Step 1. Start Unity
Click on the corresponding icon located in the "Start" menu or in the "Applications" folder.
Step 2. Click on the Help menu, then select the Check for Updates option
The Help menu is located on the bar visible at the top of the program window or screen. When you select the option Check for Updates a new pop-up window will appear.
Step 3. Click the Download new version button
If you are using the latest available version of Unity, the indicated button will not be present.
- By clicking on the option indicated you will be redirected to the web page from which you can download the installation file of the new version of Unity.
- In some cases you will be redirected to the link to install Unity Hub. It is a software manager for Unity that will allow you to manage the installation of any add-on or update.
Step 4. Download and run the installation file
Click on the button Save File when required.
Step 5. Double click on the downloaded file to start the installation process
You'll find it inside your computer's "Downloads" folder.
Step 6. Follow the instructions given by the "Download Assistant"
If you are using the Mac version of the installation file, you will need to drag the program icon into the "Applications" folder.

Step 7. Close Unity
Before completing the installation following the instructions of the Download Assistant, you will need to close the Unity window.
Step 8. Choose which components to download and include in Unity
The default configuration should be perfect for your needs.
- The amount of free disk space required to complete the download will be displayed. Make sure your computer has the amount of free space indicated before clicking the button Next and start the data download. This step will take some time to complete.
- You may need to authorize the installation of updates.
Step 9. Click the Finish button
A confirmation screen will appear when the download is complete. At this point you can choose to restart Unity automatically by selecting the "Launch Unity" check button.
