Automator is a handy application included with Mac OS X - therefore, it should already be pre-installed on your computer. Here's how to rename many files together using this application.
Steps

Step 1. Open Automator
You can click on its icon on the launchpad or double-click in the Applications folder.

Step 2. Select “Workflow” and then “Choose”

Step 3. Click on "Files and folders" in the first column within "Library"

Step 4. Drag the files you want to rename to the top right of the Automator window
We recommend that you create a copy of a couple of files and test the app on them before continuing, in case the result is not what you want

Step 5. Double-click “Rename Finder Items” in the second column

Step 6. Decide if you want Automator to make copies of your files
If so, click on “Add”, otherwise click on “Don't add”.
In the next steps we assume that you clicked “Don't add”

Step 7. Decide if you want to add or replace text in the filenames
Select "Add Text" or "Replace Text" from the drop-down menu as needed.

Step 8. Add text if you like
Simply type the text in the text box.
-
If you want to add text, select "After name", "Before name" or "As extension". By selecting "After", the name and text will be added to the end of the file name and before the extension.
