This article explains how to rename a file using the Android file manager. This is the app you normally use to access the data in your device's internal memory or SD card.
Steps
Step 1. Launch your Android device's file manager
The name of the program varies depending on the device in use, but is usually characterized by the app Archive or Files. Look for an icon depicting a folder or hard drive in the "Applications" panel.
If you don't have a file manager installed on your device, you can download one for free directly from the Google Play Store
Step 2. Locate the file you want to rename
Do not open it, you will simply have to go to the folder where it is stored.
If you can't find the file you're interested in, use the app's search function. Normally, it has a magnifying glass icon and is placed at the top or bottom of the screen
Step 3. Keep your finger pressed on the file name
This will select the file and some additional options will appear at the top or bottom of the screen.
Step 4. Press the ⁝ button
It is located in the upper or lower right corner of the screen. A drop-down menu will appear.
Step 5. Choose the Rename option
A text field containing the current file name should appear on the screen.
Step 6. Give the file a new name
If the file has an extension, for example ".pdf" or ".doc", it is best not to delete it.
Step 7. Press the OK or Finish button
The file name will be updated immediately.
