Rasam is a soup that plays an important role during South Indian festivals. There is a wide range of variations and recipes in all the southern states of this country; it is believed to be able to improve digestion due to the fact that all of its main ingredients also have good medicinal properties.
Ingrediants
- A piece of tamarind the size of a raisin grain
- 1 medium tomato
- 1 tablespoon of pepper
- 1 tablespoon of cumin
- 3 medium-sized red chillies
- 4 cloves of garlic
- 1 pinch of turmeric powder
- 2 teaspoons of oil
- 1 teaspoon of mustard
- 1 stem of curry leaves
- 3 stalks of coriander leaves
- Salt to taste
Steps

Step 1. Soak the tamarind in 120ml of water in a small bowl
Add a pinch of salt and turmeric powder.

Step 2. Squeeze the juice out of it and keep it aside

Step 3. Crush a tomato and add the tamarind juice

Step 4. Chop the pepper, cumin, garlic and a red pepper to a dry powder

Step 5. Pour the oil into a pan and heat it
Add the mustard and, when the seeds start to crack, add two chillies followed by the curry leaves.

Step 6. Incorporate the tamarind juice you made

Step 7. Add the powdered spices and salt to taste

Step 8. Bring the mixture to a boil
