Have you ever dreamed of becoming a famous singer? Do you have the right skills? Well, you've come to the right place. In this guide, you will learn the skills you need to make your dream come true.
Steps
Step 1. Find your voice extension
Using a piano, if you are a girl start with the middle G and see if you can reproduce it. If you are a male, start one octave below the middle G. Go down until you find your lowest note, then go up until you reach your highest note. Once you've found your range, you can start improving it by training your voice to go higher or lower.
Step 2. Now that you know your vocal range, scroll through each note and try to tune it with a long, clean timbre
Make sure you don't damage your vocal cords when you sustain a note for a long time. Always have a glass or bottle of water on hand, just in case.
Step 3. Find a song in your vocal range
Study it for about 10 minutes, then chant it. You don't need to know the words. Simply sing "Do, do, do", or "La, la, la". You could accompany yourself on the piano or guitar, but if you don't know how to play them, you can always sing following an online video. When you want to practice, it is better to sing over a recording than to accompany yourself: this way you can hear how the other person sings.
Step 4. Now, once you have mastered the song, add any type of melody to your voice
Make it unique! Create your own style. Before adding the melody DO NOT try to teach yourself to sing with vibrato: if you learn the wrong way, it will be very difficult to go back.
Step 5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for any song you like in your key
Learn the lyrics or write your own song.
Advice
- Standing or sitting with your back straight helps you breathe better while singing.
- Get used to singing in front of others.
- Warm up before and after, so as not to damage the vocal cords.
- Don't go out of your vocal range, or you could damage your voice.
- Never sing when you have a sore throat - you may lose your voice.
- Breathe through your diaphragm, not through your throat.
- It is always good to practice musical scales.
- Try intoning a note for at least 10 seconds (with water close at hand).
- You can join a choir if you are willing.
