Netflix is an online streaming service currently available in Canada and the US. In 2010, over 100,000 titles were on the platform, and users could enjoy them via computers, internet-connected TVs and some consoles. The PS3 is also known for its connectivity. Its built-in wi-fi allows it to easily connect to online games and shows like Netflix and Hulu. Although Netflix initially sent discs to PS3 owners, starting in October 2010 it released a downloadable app for users to access Netflix. Skip to the first step to start using your PS3 to stream Netflix.
Steps
Step 1. Subscribe to Netflix
Go to the site and check the rate plans. Unlimited instant streaming is included with every plan, including the option to receive movies by mail.
- Instant streaming via Netflix is available only in Canada and the US. The price is the same in US and Canadian dollars.
- For about $ 7.99 per month (€ 6), you can watch any movie or TV show available in the Watch Now database. This plan will also allow you to watch TV on computers connected to the network. Request a free trial to use the service 1 month before crediting your current account.
Step 2. Connect your Playstation 3 to the internet, in case you haven't already done so
Step 3. Log into your “Playstation Network” account
The account is included in the PS3 package.
To access, you will need to read and accept the terms and conditions, enter your name, date of birth and address. Then create a username, password and User ID visible to other users. You can also choose to include your credit card details to purchase games or apps
Step 4. Go to the XMB of your PS3
XMB stands for “Xross Media Bar” (Xross means "cross"). It is the PS3 user interface in which to navigate between games and console features by scrolling icons horizontally and vertically.
Step 5. Go to the "Playstation Network" section on the XMB interface
Click on "News".
Step 6. Select the Netflix red square
Step 7. Follow the instructions to download the Netflix app
