Black cumin oil, also called Nigella Sativa, is an alternative remedy with which some people believe they can cure everything from inflammation to hair loss. If taken as it is, it can be used absolute or mixed with drinks and vegetables. It is also possible to rub it into the skin for immediate treatment. There is not enough evidence yet to prove its effectiveness, so consult your doctor to make sure it is not contraindicated for your health.
Steps
Method 1 of 4: Take Black Cumin Oil
Step 1. Take a teaspoon with meals
Advocates of black cumin oil recommend consuming up to three teaspoons per day to maximize its health benefits. The simplest way is to take a teaspoon with each meal. You can use it to flavor foods and drinks instead of taking it absolute.
It has a strong, bitter taste and a thick consistency like cooking oil
Step 2. Mix it with honey in equal parts
By combining it with a sweet - as well as healthy - element such as honey, you can mask its typically bitter taste. Pour one teaspoon of honey and one teaspoon of oil into a small bowl. Mix well and enjoy it as you like.
Lemon juice can be an alternative to honey. Take a teaspoon and mix it with the oil to mask its flavor
Step 3. Pour it over the vegetables
Black cumin oil is a natural substitute for olive oil and vegetable dressings. Pour a teaspoon directly onto the vegetables or mix it with lemon juice or honey. You will receive all its benefits without having to ingest it as if it were a medicine.
Step 4. Mix it with a strong drink
This way, you can disguise both the flavor and texture of the oil. For example, when making tea, pour a teaspoon into the cup or use it when making a smoothie. Typically, honey or lemon juice is used to flavor these drinks, so the taste of the oil will naturally be hidden as well.
Try taking it on an empty stomach
Method 2 of 4: Moisturize your hair with Black Cumin Oil
Step 1. Mix it with the olive oil in equal parts
Take a bowl and combine one tablespoon of black cumin oil and one tablespoon of olive oil. You can also use coconut oil instead of olive oil. They are both natural substances used to moisturize. In this way, you will get a solution to apply on your hair.
If you need more, add another tablespoon of olive or coconut oil, but not black cumin
Step 2. Massage the hair
Dip your fingers in the oily mixture and spread it through your hair. Work deeply in order to spread it on each strand up to the roots. If you have trouble, you can use a comb to spread it out better after applying it to your head. You can also wipe it on your scalp to promote hair growth.
Step 3. Rinse after half an hour
Let the mixture absorb for at least 30 minutes. Wrap your hair in a towel so that it penetrates the hair fibers rather than dripping everywhere. Set an alarm to let you know when it's time to rinse your head.
Step 4. Proceed to rinse
After 30 minutes, turn on the hot water tap in the shower or sink. Shampoo as usual. Once the oil is completely eliminated, the hair will be regenerated. Since you've applied an emollient solution, you won't need the conditioner.
Method 3 of 4: Treating Health Problems with Black Cumin Oil
Step 1. Dilute it with water before rubbing it on the skin
Many people use black cumin oil to treat inflammation, but for some, direct application can further irritate the skin. So, dilute it. Just pour about ten drops into 240ml of water. This way, you'll also use less oil, so a bottle will last you longer.
Step 2. Use diluted on insect bites and other irritations
For swelling and redness, treat the affected area with diluted oil. After mixing it in a bowl of warm water, dip a cotton ball and pat it gently on the irritated area. To improve its effectiveness, hold the wipe or soak the irritated area in the solution for five minutes.
You can also spray the water-oil-based mixture on the body to relieve fever
Step 3. Use it to cure acne
Fill a saucepan with 2 liters of water and add about ten drops of black cumin oil. Boil the water. While you wait, place a clean, warm washcloth on your face to open pores. Keep your head over the pot for five minutes, but don't get too close or you could burn yourself with the steam.
Step 4. Rub it on the sore areas
If you have a toothache or headache, try rubbing the oil into the painful areas. Put a drop or two on your finger or a cotton ball. Dab it on the affected tooth or massage it into your temples. Hopefully, the pain will tend to subside.
Step 5. Use it to treat headaches and breathing problems
Try adding a few drops of oil to a cloth and smelling it throughout the day. If you have a vaporizer, you can also pour a few drops and spread its fragrance in the room. Those who use black cumin oil claim that its scent is able to relax muscles, preventing headaches or asthma attacks.
Method 4 of 4: Avoiding Side Effects
Step 1. Limit your consumption to three teaspoons per day
Advocates of black cumin oil believe they can reap its benefits with three teaspoons a day. There is a risk that more is unsafe, so limit your intake. You could start with a smaller dose, like one teaspoon a day, and progressively increase it to the maximum to keep track of the effects it has on your body.
Step 2. Avoid taking it while pregnant or breastfeeding
Most likely, in these cases, a small amount does not hurt, but there is not enough evidence to prove it. In the past, black cumin oil was used for abortion purposes, so take no chances and eliminate its consumption during these times. At the very least, consult your doctor first.
Step 3. Check your blood sugar if you have diabetes
There is a possibility that the oil can lower the blood sugar level. If you are a diabetic, get regular blood tests to check your blood sugar. Notice any symptoms of low blood sugar, such as sudden confusion, anxiety, tremors, or heart palpitations.
Step 4. See your doctor if you have anemia or are taking a blood thinner
Black cumin oil can lower blood pressure and hinder clotting. If you are anemic, talk to your doctor before taking it. It may advise you not to take it together with a blood thinner.
Step 5. Stop using black cumin oil two weeks before surgery
Since it may affect the circulatory system, stop taking it. Let your body have time to digest the last traces of it and rest properly before surgery. This is especially important if you have diabetes or anemia or are on blood thinning therapy.
