If you're high and feeling a little anxious, that's normal. It happens to everyone! Fortunately, there are some steps you can take to calm down and relieve the effects of a high, for example by hydrating yourself and getting some fresh air. If you have to go somewhere, try taking a shower, drinking coffee, or using some other tricks to stay alert and focused.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Calm down
Step 1. Take a few deep breaths
Deep breathing is a surefire way to calm down. Sit or lie down in a comfortable place and close your eyes. Then, put your hand on your abdomen and slowly inhale through your nose. Meanwhile, feel your stomach as you lift it. Then, slowly exhale through your mouth. Repeat the exercise several times.
Step 2. Drink some water
Dehydration and thirst can increase the dizziness caused by drugs. To ensure the body has the necessary water supply and regain calm and concentration, fill a glass of cold water and sip it slowly. When you're done, evaluate how you feel and drink more if you're thirsty.
Avoid sodas, energy drinks, and alcohol, or you'll end up dehydrating further
Step 3. Open a window to get some fresh air
Sometimes, dark and stuffy environments can increase the agitation. If you are at home, try opening a window to let in fresh air and sunlight. If there is a nice view, sit nearby and look at the landscape - you could calm down and get over the marijuana high.
Step 4. Play some relaxing music or watch a movie
If you have something to follow, you can distract yourself from any thoughts that are running through your head. If you have to go somewhere, keep the music or movie playing in the background while you get ready.
- Listen to quiet, cheerful songs that you already know and like.
- If you decide to watch a movie, opt for something less demanding, like a comedy or nature documentary.
Step 5. Try sleeping if you have nothing to do
If you don't have to go out for the rest of the day, get comfortable in bed and try to sleep in order to sober up. When you wake up, you will feel more rested and probably the effect of marijuana will have disappeared!
Method 2 of 2: Staying Awake and Focused
Step 1. Throw yourself in the shower
A shower can give you the right boost to feel more alert and attentive. If it's cold, it'll wake you up even faster, but hot should be effective too. Let the water run over your face for some time to further stimulate yourself.
Step 2. Have a coffee
If you are not the early riser type, you will surely know how useful coffee is when you need to wake up and get active. So, prepare it and sip it to relieve the lightheadedness and be more careful.
Keep in mind that caffeine can increase heart rate and promote anxiety. If you are already anxious about the effects of marijuana, you may want to avoid coffee or wait to calm down before taking it
Step 3. Shake the high off with some low intensity exercise
Physical activity promotes the production of endorphins, which help relieve agitation and increase alertness. Find the right space to do some pushups, sit-ups, squats, and stretches. If you don't feel like moving, try yoga.
If you feel very lightheaded, avoid exercising with dumbbells and heavy machinery, otherwise you could get hurt
Step 4. Take a walk
In addition to sports, even a walk can increase the secretion of endorphins and give you a wake up call. Additionally, fresh air and natural sunlight help alleviate the effect of marijuana. If you're worried about meeting someone while stunned, choose a low-traffic route and avoid walking near large groups of people.
Step 5. Use eye drops if you have tired eyes
It will help you cleanse them and feel more alert and awake. It will also help you reduce the redness caused by the high.
