This article explains how to add music to a photo uploaded to Instagram. You can use the Android and iPhone versions of the app to upload a photo with music to your Instagram Story. If you want to upload a photo with music to your profile, you need to use the free PicMusic application available for iPhone.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Add Music to a Story Photo
Step 1. Open Instagram
Press the Instagram app icon, which looks like a multicolored camera. If you are already logged in, your dashboard will open.
If you are not logged in to Instagram, enter your email and password when asked before continuing
Step 2. Open the "Home" tab
If Instagram doesn't open automatically on the wall, press the house icon located in the lower left corner of the screen.
Step 3. Press Your Story at the top
The loading screen will open.
Step 4. Take a photo
Point your phone at an item you want to capture, you can press the round "Capture" button at the bottom of the screen.
If you want to select an existing photo from Camera Roll, tap the "Photo" box at the bottom left of the screen, then tap the image you want to use
Step 5. Press the smiley face icon
It is located at the top of the screen. A menu will appear.
Step 6. Press MUSIC
It's one of the menu items you just opened. Press it and the list of the most used songs will open.

Step 7. Search for a song
Press the search bar at the top of the screen, then type the name of a song or artist.
- You can also just scroll through the song list in the tab Popular.
- If your search doesn't produce any results, please choose a different song.
Step 8. Choose a song
Once you've found the song you want to use, press its name to add it to your photo.
Step 9. Choose a section of the song to use
Press and drag the square on the sound wave at the bottom of the screen to the right or left.
You can shorten the duration of the audio clip by pressing 15 SEC and then swipe up to select a different option.
Step 10. Press Done in the upper right corner of the screen
Step 11. Move the artist tag
If the tag is covering an important part of the photo, drag it to a place where it is least annoying.
Step 12. Press Your Story at the bottom of the screen
You will add the photo to your Instagram story and your followers will be able to see it for the next 24 hours.
Method 2 of 2: Using PicMusic
Step 1. Install PicMusic
This free app allows you to add music to a photo from your iPhone's Photos app, but bear in mind that it will also apply a watermark to the image. To install it, make sure you have Instagram on your phone, then follow these steps:

You open
the App Store.
- Awards Search for in the lower right corner of the screen.
- Press the search bar at the top of the screen.
- Type picmusic, then press Search for.
- Awards Get to the right of "Pic Music".
- Enter your Apple ID password or Touch ID when asked.
Step 2. Open PicMusic
When the download is complete, press You open in the App Store, or close the store and press the PicMusic app icon on one of the main screens on your iPhone.
Step 3. Press Add Photo in the center of the screen
Step 4. Select a photo to use
Press the album where the image you are interested in is located, then press it once. You should see a check mark appear on the photo preview.
If necessary, press OK to allow PicMusic to access your photos.
Step 5. Press
in the upper right corner of the screen.
Step 6. Press ☰ in the upper right corner of the screen
A menu will appear on the right side.
Step 7. Press Add Music
It is one of the items on the menu. Press it and an iTunes window will open.
Step 8. Choose a song
Awards Songs in the iTunes window, then find and press the song you want to use.
Again, if necessary, press OK to allow PicMusic to access your iTunes library.
Step 9. Select the starting point
Drag the sound wave left or right to change the starting point of the song.
- You can preview the clip you have selected by pressing the triangular "Play" button on this page.
- If you don't want the song's volume to drop after it's finished playing, press the pink "Fade" button to turn off this feature.
Step 10. Press
in the upper right corner of the screen.
Step 11. Press ☰ in the upper right corner of the screen
The previous window will reappear.
Step 12. Scroll down and hit Instagram, under the "Share" heading
Step 13. Press OK when prompted
The video will be saved to your iPhone's Camera Roll.
Step 14. Press Open when prompted
The Instagram app will open.
Step 15. Press the Library tab in the lower left corner of the screen
Step 16. Select your video
To do this, press the preview of the movie that you find at the bottom of the screen.
Step 17. Press Next in the upper right corner of the screen
Step 18. Choose a filter you like, then hit Next
If you want to apply a filter to your video, you can press the one you are interested in at the bottom of the screen.

Step 19. If necessary, add a caption
If you want to add a caption to the photo, press the "Write a caption …" text field at the top of the screen, then type whatever text you like (for example "Turn up the volume!").
Step 20. Tap Share in the upper left corner of the screen
The photo, along with the accompanying music, will be uploaded to your Instagram profile.
