This wikiHow teaches you how to record and insert background music into your Snapchat snaps.
Steps
Part 1 of 3: Setting the Music
Step 1. Open a music playback application
To add a song to a snap, you can use apps like Apple Music or Spotify.
Step 2. Select the song you want to add to the snap
Open a saved playlist or album to search for the song you want to snap.
Step 3. Tap the pause button
If the song plays automatically, pause it before you start recording, so you can check which moments in the video to insert it.
If you want to insert a specific piece of the song in the video, select where this part begins while it is paused
Part 2 of 3: Recording Music
Step 1. Open Snapchat

Step 2. Play the song
Snapchat will record the background music as soon as you start playing it.
- If you're using an iPhone, swipe up from the bottom of the screen to bring up the Control Center. The song you have chosen will appear above the music controls. Awards ► to play the song. You may need to swipe left or right on the Control Center to find the music controls. Once you've started playing the song, swipe down to close Control Center.
- On Android, swipe down to open the Notification Center. The chosen song will appear above a series of musical commands. Awards ► to reproduce it. Swipe up to close Notification Center once it starts.
Step 3. Press and hold the ○ (largest) button to shoot a video on Snapchat with background music
Only the parts of the song played while capturing the video will be recorded.
Step 4. Release your finger from the ○ button to stop recording
The video will play on the screen.
If you don't hear any sound, tap the volume button to turn it on
Part 3 of 3: Share the Snap
Step 1. Tap the blue arrow at the bottom right
Step 2. Select the friends you want to send the snap to:
a blue check mark will appear next to their names.
Step 3. Click Submit
Snapchat will save and send the snap to your friends. They will be able to listen to background music once they open and play it.
