Some of us are afraid of being sick and having to stay indoors for a day. If this description suits you, read the following to learn how to enjoy a sick day.
Steps
Step 1. Read a book
It can be a science fiction book, a novel, a detective story, whatever you prefer. You have a lot of time on your hands and you may be able to finish the book in one day.
Step 2. Watch a movie, not just TV
There is not much on television during the mornings and afternoons of the weekdays.
Step 3. Take a relaxing bath
Hot water can have therapeutic properties if you have muscle pain.
Step 4. Turn your sofa into a comfortable place
Move the sofa cushions to create a space that is comfortable to lie down, gather all the cushions you have in the house, blankets and quilts and make yourself comfortable. Take a coffee table or bedside table and bring it close to the sofa, put all the things you need on it and enjoy the sofa!
- Handkerchiefs
- Medicines (if needed)
- Books
- Phone / MP3 / iPod / Computer
- Snacks and water or soft drinks
- Remote control
Step 5. Invite a few friends who aren't afraid of getting sick
Talk to friends on the phone after school, or at other times during weekends or holidays.
Step 6. Try to be creative
Make drawings, take out paints, or other things to express your creativity. Maybe you can make sculptures or abstract paintings on the theme of the disease!
Step 7. Listen to some music
It can help distract you from your illness. Play a song that makes you happy and positive to cheer you up.
Step 8. Play a video game you haven't used for a while
Video games are fun and can help you develop your coordination. They also help you stay awake.
Step 9. Browse the internet
You can find thousands of things to do on the internet. Visit sites like YouTube, Myspace, Facebook, Twitter, read blogs or watch documentaries. You can also write articles or make edits on wikiHow if you feel like it!
Step 10. If you have the strength, clean your room
Open the windows, put on some cheerful music and start tidying up.
Step 11. Put the polish on your nails
Bring out the brightest colored nail polishes, the ones you would never wear when you leave the house, and paint each nail a different color. Also put some glitter on. This can help distract you and make you forget that you are sick.
Step 12. Snack on foods that aren't too heavy and hard to digest
Choose foods like fruit, whole-grain cookies, and crackers. Drink some fruit juice. When your stomach can digest better, try some rice butter pasta. Make sure you keep your body hydrated, drink lots of water.
Step 13. Communicate
Call those people you haven't heard or seen on the phone for a while, text your friends, use Skype or other instant messaging services to talk to distant family members. Reply to all the emails you have in your inbox. Communicate with the world outside to not feel alone and isolated!
Step 14. Don't stay in bed all day
If you feel like it and the strength, and if the weather is nice, go to the terrace or garden and read a book. A little fresh air will do you good.
Step 15. Browse old photo albums
Bring out your childhood photos, maybe you can even create personalized and decorated photo albums.
