Getting mold out of your bathroom curtain is easy, all you need is a washing machine. Try this solution and it will be polished with very little effort.
Steps
Step 1. Remove the curtain from the pole
You can do it easily: just unhook it.
Step 2. Put the curtain in the washing machine with some towels you need to wash and add the detergent as usual
Step 3. Set up the classic wash cycle you use for towels and curtains
Use hot water.
Step 4. Do not use fabric softener
It should also not be used for towels, as it could negatively affect their absorbency.
Step 5. Slam the curtain to remove excess water
Step 6. Hang it up in the shower, fresh from the laundry
Step 7. After you shower, leave it open (to prevent creasing) so it can dry without mold build-up
It is best to open it completely, including the ends, and evenly space the rings between them. This allows you to better distribute the curtain instead of letting the water get trapped in the folds and stay there. By opening it fully, not only will it be fully exposed to ventilation, the air will circulate slowly and freely from side to side and from top to bottom; in addition, the inside of the shower will dry quickly. This method is even more effective if you leave the bathroom door open after a shower
Advice
- White vinegar can be used as a substitute for bleach. It will eliminate mold but will be gentler than products that contain harsh artificial chemicals.
- Washing the curtain in the washing machine once a month will prevent mold from forming.
- If you want, you can wash the tent alone, without the towels. If you set the right wash cycle, it shouldn't melt or warp.
- You can put the curtain in the dryer, provided you do it with extreme caution; do not leave it inside for more than a minute or two.

Remember that prevention is better than cure. To prevent mold from forming, you could use an empty laundry basket or a laundry hook (it's called the Air-it-Out Shower Hook and you can find it online; if you can't find it, you can simply attach a hook to the side of the tub on the top. which you rest the curtain) to lift the curtain from the tub and allow it to dry quickly thanks to the circulation of air.
If you want to add some bleach in the washing machine, you can, but make sure the other things you wash don't get damaged
- Sheer curtains (those facing the inside of the tub and accompanying the generally decorative outer curtain) can be bought online at a low price; buy several at a time to save on shipping costs. You could use them, preferably with the metal S-hooks instead of the metal rings with the snap closure, in order to change them quickly. If you want, you can add a decorative outer curtain, which will remain relatively dry and free of fungus. Replace the liner once a month or when mold starts to form. It is a very practical method, moreover the cost is very low (not higher than that of the garbage bags), and the same goes for consumption (it will be equal to that of a few plastic bottles). In this way, you will not have to wash the curtain in the washing machine, running the risk that it deforms, that it becomes short and does not wash well and consumes water and electricity. You will always have a clean floor covering that will allow you to avoid getting the floor wet while you shower.
