You probably know that drinking green tea is good for you, but did you know that it can also be beneficial for the skin? You can use it to make your own skin care products or add it to your favorite cleanser to fight acne and have a more beautiful complexion. All it takes is a treatment with a toner, a facial mask or a cleanser based on green tea to immediately obtain a brighter and cleaner skin.
Steps
Method 1 of 4: Make a Green Tea Toner
Step 1. Heat a pot or teapot filled with water until it boils
Heat the water over high heat until you see bubbles appear at the bottom. At that point, remove the pot from the heat and make the tea.
It is not necessary for the water to come to a boil. But if it starts to boil, that's fine. However, it will take longer to brew and cool the tea
Step 2. Put a green tea bag in a cup
Brew the tea in a 250-375ml cup, so you have a good amount of toner. Put the sachet on the bottom and leave the thread out on one side.
If you prefer to use loose tea, put about 1-2 tablespoons of tea in an infuser, then dip it into the cup
Step 3. Pour the hot tea over the sachet
Protect your hands with a napkin as you slowly pour the water into the cup. Once it is almost full, place the pot on an unlit stove or on a cloth. At that point, gently turn the tea bag in the cup to distribute the infusion.
The water should immediately turn an earthy green color
Step 4. Let the tea steep for about 5-10 minutes
Leave the sachet or infuser thread out of the cup, on one side. Then set a timer for 5-10 minutes and let the tea steep. When the time runs out, take the sachet and throw it away or save the tea leaves for another treat.
You can make a mask from the tea leaves you used for the infusion. Read the recipe in the following section which talks about masks
Step 5. Wait for the green tea to cool
It will take about half an hour. Do not apply hot green tea to your face. Set a timer for 30 minutes and let the cup cool. When the time is up, check the temperature of the tea with your fingers to make sure it is completely cold.
If the tea is slightly warm, that's not a problem
Advise:
For a quick skin treatment, rub the green tea bag on your clean face once it has cooled down. Let the tea dry on your skin instead of rinsing it off. This can reduce redness, give you a brighter complexion and fight acne.
Step 6. Add 5-10 drops of tea tree oil if you have oily skin or acne
This optional step can help you treat oily or acne-prone skin. Just hold the bottle of tea tree oil over the green tea and pour 5-10 drops into the cup. Gently swirl the liquid to mix the ingredients.
You can find tea tree essential oil at health food stores or on the internet
Step 7. Pour the iced tea into a clean, reusable bottle
Put the toner in a spray bottle or airtight container. Hold the bottle over the sink, then slowly pour the toner into it. Finally, close the cap.
Advise:
if you have a funnel, use it to pour the toner into the bottle so you don't spill a drop.
Step 8. Apply the toner to the skin with your fingers after washing
Pour a few drops of toner on your hand, then smear it on your face with your fingers. Apply the amount needed to cover the entire face.
- If you put toner in a spray, you can apply it directly to your face.
- Use the toner once or twice a day after washing your face.
Method 2 of 4: Make a Green Tea Steam Facial Treatment
Step 1. Pour boiling water into a heat-resistant bowl on a table
Heat a pot of water over high heat until you see bubbles appear on the surface. At that point, pour the water into the bowl. Use pot holders or a cloth to place the bowl on a table in front of a chair.
Be careful with boiling water - you could burn yourself
Step 2. Open a tea bag and pour the leaves into the boiling water
Open it with scissors and break it with your fingers. At that point, sprinkle the leaves in the water. They will immediately start making an infusion.
Use all the tea leaves for best results
Advise:
if you prefer, you can simply dip the sachet into the water. It will be easier to clean, but the remedy will be less effective because the green tea will not spread evenly in the bowl.
Step 3. Let the green tea steep for 1-2 minutes before putting your face on the steam
The tea will infuse during the treatment, however it is best to wait 1-2 minutes to receive the tea's benefits right from the start. Also, this way the water will cool down a bit and you won't get burned. Watch the clock or put a timer on while you wait.
You should see that the water changes color thanks to the infusion with the tea
Step 4. Put a towel over your head and lean over the bowl
Hold a large bath towel over your neck and shoulders, then lean forward, bringing your face directly over the steam. The towel will trap the steam, so it can treat the skin.
- Make sure the towel closes the bowl from all sides to trap all the steam.
- If you feel too hot, raise the towel and let some steam out.
Step 5. Continue the treatment for 5-10 minutes
Keep your face on the bowl for about 10 minutes. Breathe in deeply and try to relax to create a spa-like experience. In this way the steam has time to penetrate the skin and remove impurities.
- If you start to feel hot, you can stop the treatment first.
- It's best to set a timer for 5-10 minutes so you know exactly how long to apply the steam to your face.
Step 6. Rinse your face with cold water to remove impurities
After the steam treatment, go to the sink and turn on the cold water. At that point, wash your face with water and remove all the sweat and impurities that the steam has brought out.
You can wash your face with a creamy cleanser if you wish, but it is not necessary
Step 7. Pat your face dry with a soft, clean towel
Use a towel large enough to gently pat your face dry. At that point you can continue with your normal face care routine.
Repeat this treatment no more than once a week
Method 3 of 4: Make a Green Tea Mask
Step 1. Blend used green tea leaves and honey to quickly get a mask
Make a cup of green tea, then take the sachet and let it cool. Open the sachet with scissors and pour the wet leaves into a bowl. Add about 1 teaspoon of honey and mix to form a paste. Apply the paste to your clean face for 15 minutes before rinsing with warm water.
- After the treatment, use your favorite face moisturizer.
- This mask helps exfoliate the skin, reduce redness and treat acne.
- Use this mask up to once a week.
Step 2. Blend green tea, coconut oil, honey and lemon juice for a more radiant mask
Pour one teaspoon of green tea leaves, two teaspoons of coconut oil, and two teaspoons of lemon juice into a bowl. Then, mix the ingredients with a whisk or spoon until they are well combined. Apply the mask to your face with your fingers, then relax for 5-10 minutes. Finally, rinse off with warm water.
- Use a moisturizer after rinsing.
- This mask can moisturize and nourish your skin when you are stressed or sunburned.
- Use this mask no more than once or twice a week.
Step 3. Make a mask with green tea and rice paper
Make a cup of green tea, then pour it into a small baking sheet. Spread the rice paper over the tea, making sure it is completely soaked. Leave the paper to soak for 1-2 minutes, then take it out of the tea. Put the paper on your face and relax for 10-15 minutes before removing the mask. You will not need to rinse yourself at the end of the treatment.
- This mask fights inflammation and aging by moisturizing the skin.
- After the mask, use your favorite face moisturizer.
- Use this mask once or twice a week for best results.
Step 4. Create a green tea and yogurt mask to exfoliate and nourish the skin
Leave a tea bag to steep for about 5 minutes. Take it and let it cool. At that point, pour a teaspoon of the wet leaves into a bowl. Add about 1 teaspoon of whole yogurt to the bowl and mix the ingredients until well combined. Apply the mask to your face with your fingers and relax for up to 30 minutes. Finally, wet the mask with warm water and remove it with your fingers.
- After rinsing your face, use your favorite moisturizer.
- Use this mask no more than once a week.
Method 4 of 4: Add Green Tea to the Cleansing Products You Use
Step 1. Empty a green tea bag into a small bowl
It is not necessary to leave it to infuse before using it; just cut or break it, then pour the leaves into the bowl.
You can also use loose green tea. Add about 1-2 teaspoons of leaves to the bowl
Step 2. Add about a teaspoon of facial cleansing cream to the bowl
You can use whatever product you like, as long as it's a cream. Measure the detergent with a measured spoon and pour it into the bowl.
It is best to use a fragrance-free product, as green tea leaves have a slight scent
Step 3. Mix the green tea and mix it well with the detergent
Do it with your fingers. The pasta will be ready when the leaves seem evenly distributed in the cream.
Step 4. Apply the cleanser to your face with your fingers
Take it directly from the bowl and spread it on the skin. Gently rub your face in circular motions. Make sure you cover your entire face with an even layer of cream.
With this movement you will gently exfoliate the skin as you clean it
Step 5. Leave the mixture on the skin for 5 minutes if you want a more effective exfoliating effect
You don't have to, but letting the cleanser work like a mask will remove more dead skin cells. The mask will soften the dead cells, which will peel off during rinsing. Set a timer for 5 minutes and relax for best results.
If you don't have 5 minutes, you can wash your face right away. However, letting the compound act will give you more benefits
Step 6. Wet the cleanser with warm water and wipe it off your skin
Sprinkle warm water over the mask to get it wet, then rub your face with circular finger movements to remove it. Rinse the skin well with warm water to completely remove the cream.
If you wish, you can add green tea leaves to your face cream every day. However, let it sit for 5 minutes only once or twice a week. Failure to do so could result in excessive stress on the skin
Advice
- If you continue to use green tea regularly in your routine, you will have cleaner and fresher skin. Frequent use allows for best results.
- Drinking green tea every day also promotes skin health. Try drinking it twice a day to see results.
