Have fun looking after your baby doll by spending a lot of time with him. This article tells you how to take care of it throughout the day.
Steps
Step 1. Give it a tender and adorable name
It's up to you to decide. To make the best choice, you can take a look at websites dedicated to names for babies. For a super original name, look for a site that excludes the most popular ones. If, on the other hand, you want a name that is popular, it will be even easier. You can opt for a flower name, such as Daisy, or one that rhymes with your own. Give it a modern name like Mattia, or an old-time name like Ernesto.
Step 2. Dress up your baby doll
You can buy him some dresses without spending too much money. If you want them to be cheap but good quality, buy real baby ones. In the flea markets or on Ebay you can find cute clothes for very little money. Baby clothes are better quality because they are made to be placed on the skin and not on the plastic! You can also decide to make them yourself. Thus, in addition to having many tutorials available, you can use a particularly pretty fabric.
Step 3. At first try to make him feel comfortable
Have him sleep with you for about a week. Then get him a cot. Use blankets and scraps of fabric to make a super comfortable bed. Add some stuffed animals for an extra cuddle and put her cot next to yours. Give him lots of cuddles, so that he is happy and feels loved.
Part 1 of 5: In the morning
Step 1. Gently wake your little angel
A caress will do just fine. Whisper something like, "Good morning, honey! Time to get up and start your day!" Absolutely avoid waking him with a slap or a horrible alarm clock. Gently pull the covers aside and pick him up.
Step 2. Feed him the bottle or baby food
Add some fruit juice or tartlets. You have to feed him well! After all, it's about breakfast, so it's the most important meal of the day, right?
If he's having a tantrum, try again later. Maybe he's not hungry. If she starts crying, she's sure she doesn't want to eat. Gently wipe his mouth and try again later
Step 3. Pick him up and make him burp
As soon as you finish eating, gently cradle your baby doll to soothe him. When he has to digest, make him burp.
Step 4. Change his diaper
Remove the old one, wipe his bottom and put on a new one. You know how it works.
Step 5. Dress him up
Choose a cute and comfortable dress from the ones he likes best. Maybe take a picture of him wearing his favorite dress!
Step 6. Start the day
Decide what you want to do with your baby doll today. Carry it with you as if it were part of your family. Take him for a picnic or a walk, to the supermarket or to visit a relative. If you have to go somewhere you can't take it, ask a friend, sister, or older doll (and why not your teddy bear?) To babysit.
Part 2 of 5: In the Afternoon
Step 1. Play with your doll
Take out all your toys and let them play. He will have a lot of fun! Take lots of photos.
Step 2. It's time for lunch:
give him the baby food!
Also this time you can give him a bottle or, if he is at least 10 months old, baby food.
Step 3. Change his diaper again
You know how it works.
Step 4. Give him lots of cuddles
Sit on the sofa and cuddle your baby doll. Tell him stories. Bring a little book to read or some games.
Step 5. Go for a ride
Don't forget to put sunscreen on him. If possible, take him to the playground and let him go on the swing or slide, or help him climb a ladder. If you can't leave the house, give him a ball to play with.
Step 6. Have him take a nap
Your love is sure to be so sleepy after all that fun: it's time for some sleep. Put him in the crib and let him fall asleep. If he cries, hold him for a few minutes.
Part 3 of 5: In the evening
Step 1. It's time for dinner:
give him the baby food!
Maybe a bottle is enough.
Step 2. Give him a bath
Put it in the bathtub and pretend to wash it with shampoo and bubble bath.
Step 3. Change his diaper
Step 4. Read him a bedtime story
Choose your favorite fairy tale, or invent a story.
Step 5. Sing him a lullaby
Take your little love in your arms and sing him a song.
Step 6. Put him to sleep
When he is half asleep in your arms, gently place him in the crib and kiss him goodnight.
Part 4 of 5: Choosing a Babysitter
Step 1. If you are lucky enough to be spoiled for choice among so many babysitters, you need to pick one, just like you were a real mom
First of all, make an appointment for the interview with all the candidates.
Step 2. Generally these are quiet people, who would never hurt your baby doll
But you have to carefully consider the experience as a babysitter and the rate they ask you! If one has experience with real babies and the other only with dolls, it makes a difference. Choose the highly specialized one, who has experience only with dolls, unless they charge a lot more than the other.
Step 3. If you suspect that the babysitter is not doing her job well, trust your instincts
It's safer, for you and your baby doll.
Step 4. Do the same when it comes to choosing a doctor
If your baby doll is sick, you can almost always treat him at home with medicine, but you have to go and take the exams. If you have a friend who is particularly experienced with sick dolls, ask her for advice.
Part 5 of 5: Keep it Clean
Step 1. Wash your baby doll
If it gets dirty, don't put it in the bathtub. Instead, take a damp sponge and rub it gently with a little baking soda, then dry it well with a clean towel.
Step 2. If you got it at a flea market and want to disinfect it (you never know:
might be a little caked with food), try this trick.
Undress it. Take a baby sponge and put some hand sanitizer on it, then wipe it all over the body of your baby doll, scrubbing well. Let it dry (it only takes a few minutes), then coat it.
Advice
- Prepare him a good meal with your toy dishes, or put him to bed.
- The sunbed you can do with a pillow and an old towel.
- Remember to feed him every two hours or so.
- For the dresses you can use different types of fabrics: it's more fun for him, but also for you.
- Another fun thing is playing at school and being a teacher. Ask your friends, cousins, sisters to get a doll and play at being mothers.
- If you have a swing at home, you can pretend you are at the playground.
- Don't throw him around, but treat him like he's your baby.
- If you feed him too much, he risks throwing up and making a mess.
- Don't throw him on the ground, don't kick him, and never hurt him. Hold it rather gently in your arms, trying not to drop it.
- Try to set up a daily routine.
- Stay calm and never react abruptly. After all, you are his mother!
- Create a small space for it in your bedroom, trying not to make too much confusion.
