There are many great video games, especially for the Nintendo DS, and many players decide to buy programs that can help them in these games. Unfortunately, some programs don't already have the codes inside, which you'll need to add yourself. Here is an article on how to manually add codes to your Nintendo DS Action Replay.
Steps
Step 1. Install the Action Replay Code Manager
You should have a small disc that comes with your Action Replay system. Insert it into your computer and install the program.
Step 2. Insert the Action Replay game cartridge into your Nintendo DS and turn it on
Step 3. Connect one end of the USB cable to your computer and the other to the top of the Action Replay cartridge
Step 4. Find the code you are looking for and open "Notepad" on your computer
Step 5. Copy and paste the code into "Notepad"
Step 6. Click File, then select Save As
Step 7. Choose the name under which to save the code
Step 8. Look at the bottom of the Save As window
You should notice three lines: File Name, Save As, and Encoding. The only thing to change is "File Name". Choose whatever name you like, but don't save the code as .txt, but how .xml. Whatever name you choose for the file, be sure to change its extension to.xml.
Step 9. Once you have saved the code in the correct format, and connected the Action Replay to your computer and DS, you can add the code to the cartridge with the Action Replay Code Manager program
Open the code file and right click on it.
Step 10. Click Copy and go to the Action Replay Code Manager
On the left you should see a long column with all preloaded codes. Right click on the column and select Paste. Pasting the code here will erase the entire library of pre-loaded codes from Action Replay, ma do not be afraid. You can easily get them back by going online with the Code Manager and requesting them.
Step 11. Once the code is added, you can disconnect the USB cable from the cartridge, but don't turn off the DS yet
Click on the small house icon on the Nintendo DS screen to return to the main screen.
Step 12. Now click on the green button with the star icon and scroll to select the code
Without turning off the DS, remove the Action Replay cartridge and insert the game. Once entered you should notice the new "Start" button. Click on it to start playing.
Step 13. Your code should be active
Don't use too many tricks or the game may freeze!
Advice
This method also applies to Nintendo DS Lite or DSI
Warnings
- Don't use more than one code at a time! You could get the game crashed. If you decide to do this, always save your game.
- Use Action Replay and other code programs at your own risk.
- Don't use Action Replay for online games (like Mario Kart DS for example). Cheating to beat other players on the internet is not fair, and you can get banned from using Wi-Fi. Also, you will no longer be able to play the game you cheated on.
