This article explains how to activate the mode that allows you to listen only to the audio track of the videos on the YouTube Music platform on PC or Mac. The web version of YouTube Music does not have a specific setting that allows you to listen only to the audio track of the videos being able to close the movie pane, as is the case on the mobile application. If you have subscribed to the Premium version of YouTube Music, you can minimize the video frame and then close it without interrupting the playback of the related audio track.
Steps
Step 1. Access the YouTube Music website using a browser
Type the URL https://music.youtube.com into the address bar and press the Enter key on your keyboard.
Step 2. Click on the video you want to play
This way the chosen movie will be played in normal mode, so you can both watch the images and listen to the audio track.
The web version of YouTube Music does not have a setting that provides for disabling the playback of video images allowing you to listen to only the audio track of the videos, as is the case for the application intended for mobile devices. In this case, you need to minimize the video frame and then close the mini player window. By doing this you can continue listening to the song you have chosen without having to watch the video as well
Step 3. Click on the white icon
located in the lower right corner of the window.
It is displayed next to the "Repeat" and "Shuffle" feature icons. The video pane will be minimized in the lower right corner of the browser window.
At this point, the arrow icon that used to be pointing down will now be pointing up
Step 4. Click on the "X" icon located in the upper right corner of the mini video player
After minimizing the box in which the video you have chosen is playing, it will be displayed in the lower right corner of the browser window in a mini player. To close the latter, simply click on the " X"corresponding.
- This will close the mini video player pane without interrupting the playback of the movie's audio track.
- By placing the mouse cursor on the icon in the shape of "X", the message "Close mini player" will appear after a few moments.
- This is a feature linked to the premium version of YouTube Music, so it is only available to subscribers to that paid service. If you are using the free version of YouTube Music, you will not be able to close the mini player window.
- However, this function may not be supported by all videos.
Step 5. Click on the up arrow icon located in the lower right corner of the page
This will restore the video frame and playback will resume in standard mode.
