This wikiHow teaches you how to upload videos from a computer or mobile device to an album on Facebook.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Using a Mobile Phone or Tablet
Step 1. Open Facebook
The icon looks like a white F on a blue background. You should find it on the home screen (iOS) or in the app drawer (Android).
If you don't have the Facebook application, you can log in to the site in a browser such as Safari or Chrome
Step 2. Tap your profile picture to open it
Step 3. Tap Photos
It is located under the profile picture.
Step 4. Tap Albums
It is located at the top of the screen.
Step 5. Select the album where you want the video to appear
- Videos cannot be added to profile or cover photos.
- To create a new album, tap "Create album" and type the title in the "Album name" field. Determine the privacy settings if you want (by default it will be public), then click "Save".
Step 6. Tap Add Photos / Videos
This link is located under the album title.
Step 7. Select the video or videos to upload
When you tap a video, the preview image will be outlined in blue. If you want, tap other videos to select and add them.
- Although Facebook recommends uploading videos in MP4 or MOV format, most formats are supported (such as WMV, MPEG, AVI, ASF).
- Videos must not weigh more than 4GB and be longer than 120 minutes.
Step 8. Tap Done
It is located at the top right.
Step 9. Tap Upload (iOS) or Publish (Android)
This button is located at the top right. When the upload is complete the video will appear in the album.
Charging can take a few minutes, in some cases a few hours
Method 2 of 2: Using a Computer
Step 1. Open https://www.facebook.com in any browser (such as Safari or Chrome) to upload a video to a Facebook album
Step 2. Log in with your Facebook account
Step 3. Click on Photos
It is located in the left bar, under the title "Explore".
Step 4. Click on Albums
It is located above the list of photo previews.
Step 5. Select the album where you want the video to appear
- Videos cannot be added to profile or cover pictures.
- To create a new album, click on "Create album", then select the video you want to upload. As the video loads, enter the title in the appropriate field.
Step 6. Click Add Photo / Video
This link is located under the "+" symbol at the top of the album.
Step 7. Select the video or videos you want to add
Click it once to select it. To select more than one at a time, hold down ⌘ Cmd (macOS) or Ctrl (Windows) as you click.
- Although Facebook recommends uploading videos in MP4 or MOV format, most popular formats are supported (such as WMV, MPEG, AVI, ASF).
- Videos must not weigh more than 4GB and be longer than 120 minutes.
Step 8. Click Open
The video will start loading. You can check the progress by looking at the blue bar. When loading is complete, the preview image of the movie will appear.
The process can take a few minutes or even hours depending on the size of the video and the speed of the connection
Step 9. Click Publish
It is located at the bottom right. The video will appear in the album.
Advice
- When you upload a video to an album, the movie will also appear in another album called "Videos", which contains all the videos uploaded to Facebook.
- If you don't have unlimited data traffic, uploading a video using your mobile connection can be expensive. When working with large files it is good to use the Wi-Fi network.
