This article explains how to post GIFs on Facebook, as a comment or as a status. Then do it with the mobile app or on the desktop version of the site.
Steps
Method 1 of 4: Post a-g.webp" />
Step 1. Open Facebook
The app icon is dark blue with a white "f". If you are already logged in from your phone or tablet, the news page will open.
If you are not logged in to Facebook, enter your email (or phone number) and password to continue
Step 2. Go to a post you want to comment on
Scroll the news page to find it, or write the name of the person who published the post in the search bar at the top of the screen.
Step 3. Press Comment
This balloon icon is located below the post.
Step 4. Press GIF
You will find the button at the far right of the comment box. A window with the most popular GIFs will open.
Step 5. Search for a GIF
You can swipe left or right through the available animated images, or you can type a keyword in the search bar below the GIFs if you want to search for a specific one.
Step 6. Press the-g.webp" />
This will automatically add it to the comment.
Method 2 of 4: Post a-g.webp" />
Step 1. Go to the Facebook website
Open https://www.facebook.com on your favorite browser. If you are already logged in, you will see the news page appear.
If you are not logged in to Facebook, enter your email (or phone number) and password to continue
Step 2. Go to a post you want to comment on
Scroll the news page to find it, or write the name of the person who published the post in the search bar at the top of the screen.
Step 3. Scroll to the comment box
You will find it under the post. If you don't see it, click on first Comment, especially if there are already many comments.
Step 4. Click GIF
You will see the button at the far right of the comment box.
Step 5. Search for a GIF
You can swipe left or right through the available animated images, or you can type a keyword in the search bar below the GIFs if you want to search for a specific one.
Step 6. Press the-g.webp" />
This will automatically add it to the comment.
Method 3 of 4: Publish a-g.webp" />
Step 1. Open the browser of your mobile device
There is no built-in feature that allows you to insert GIFs into Facebook states, but you can copy them from other sources.
Step 2. Search for a-g.webp" />
Type "GIF" in your browser and view the results.
- You can also add a specific term to the word "GIF" to narrow your search.
- Most browsers have an image-only filter that you can turn on after performing a search. This will help you narrow your search to GIFs.
Step 3. Copy the GIF
Press and hold it until a menu appears, then press the option Copy.
Step 4. Open Facebook

Step 5. Press the status field
It is located at the top of the page and inside you can see written "What are you thinking about?".
Step 6. Press and hold the text field
This is the white space where you see written "What are you thinking about?". After a few seconds you should see the option appear Paste.
Step 7. Press Paste
This will copy the-g.webp
Step 8. Wait for the-g.webp" />
This button is located in the upper right corner of the screen. Press it and the-g.webp
If you also see a link appear along with the-g.webp" />
Method 4 of 4: Post a-g.webp" />
Step 1. Open a browser

Step 5. Click the status field
This is the text field at the top of the Facebook page, where it says "What are you thinking, [Name]?".
Step 6. Paste the-g.webp" />
You can do this in a few different ways:
- Windows: press Ctrl + V, or right-click inside the box and click Paste.
- Mac: Press ⌘ Command + V, or click the menu Edit, then Paste.
Step 7. Wait for the-g.webp" />
This button is located in the lower right corner of the status. Press it and you will publish the GIF.
