This article explains how to clear the browsing history of the mobile and computer versions of the most popular and used internet browsers, namely Google Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, Internet Explorer and Safari.
Steps
Method 1 of 8: Chrome for Computer
Step 1. Start Google Chrome by clicking on the icon
It is characterized by a red, yellow, green and blue colored circle.
Step 2. Click on the ⋮ button
It is located in the upper right corner of the window. The Chrome main menu will appear.
Step 3. Select the item Other tools
It is visible at the bottom of the pop-up menu that appeared. A small submenu will appear.
Step 4. Click on the Clear browsing data… option
It is one of the items listed in the menu Other tools. The "Clear Browsing Data" pop-up window will appear.
Step 5. Select the time range of the data to be deleted
Click on the "Time Interval" drop-down menu, then click on one of the options within it:
- Last hour;
- Last day;
- Last week;
- Last 4 weeks;
- All
Step 6. Make sure the "Browsing history" checkbox is checked
Otherwise click on it with the mouse to select it. This way you can be sure that your Chrome browsing history data will be deleted.
Step 7. Click the Clear Data button
It is blue in color and located in the lower right corner of the "Clear Browsing Data" window. This will clear all Chrome browsing history data from your computer.
Method 2 of 8: Chrome for Mobile
Step 1. Launch the Google Chrome app
Tap the red, yellow, green and blue circular icon.
Step 2. Press the ⋮ button
It is located in the upper right corner of the screen. A drop-down menu will appear.
Step 3. Select the History option
It is one of the items listed in the drop-down menu that appeared.
Step 4. Tap the Clear Browsing Data… link
It is displayed at the top of the screen.
Step 5. Select the Browsing history checkbox
This way you can be sure that your Chrome browsing history data will be cleared.
Step 6. Press the blue Clear Data button
It is visible in the lower right corner of the screen.
Step 7. Press the Clear Data button when prompted
Chrome browsing history data will be cleared from the device.
Method 3 of 8: Firefox for Computer
Step 1. Launch Firefox
It features an icon depicting a blue globe wrapped in an orange fox.
Step 2. Click on the ☰ button
It is located in the upper right corner of the window. A drop-down menu will appear.
Step 3. Click on the Library entry, then on the "History" tab
The latter is characterized by a circular icon depicting a clock.
Step 4. Click on the option Clear recent history…
It is listed at the top of the "History" menu. A new dialog will appear.
Step 5. Select the data range to delete
Click on the "Time range to clear" drop-down menu, then select one of the following options:
- Last hour;
- Last two hours;
- Last four hours;
- Today;
- All
Step 6. Click the OK button
It is located at the bottom of the window. This will delete your Firefox browsing history.
Method 4 of 8: Firefox for Mobile Devices
Step 1. Launch Firefox
It features an icon depicting a blue globe wrapped in an orange fox.
Step 2. Press the ☰ button (on iPhone) or ⋮ (on Android).
It is located in the lower or upper right corner of the screen respectively. The browser main menu will be displayed.
Step 3. Select the Settings item
It is visible at the bottom of the menu.
Step 4. Scroll down the menu to be able to select the Delete Personal Data option
It is displayed at the bottom of the page.
Step 5. Make sure the "Browsing history" slider is active
If not, move it to the right with your finger before continuing. This way you can be sure that your browsing history data will be deleted from your device.
Step 6. Press the Delete Data button
It is located at the bottom of the screen.
Step 7. Press the OK button when prompted
Firefox browsing history data will be deleted from your device.
Method 5 of 8: Microsoft Edge
Step 1. Launch Microsoft Edge
It features a dark blue icon depicting the letter "e".
Step 2. Click on the ⋯ button
It is located in the upper right corner of the window. The browser main menu will be displayed.
Step 3. Click on the Settings item
It is visible at the bottom of the appeared menu.
Step 4. Click the Choose what to delete button
It is listed in the "Clear Browsing Data" section of the "Privacy and Services" tab.
Step 5. Select the Browsing History checkbox
This way you can be sure that your browsing history data will be deleted.
Step 6. Click the Erase Now button
It is displayed at the bottom of the pop-up window that appears. All indicated data will be deleted from the Edge history.
Method 6 of 8: Internet Explorer
Step 1. Launch Internet Explorer
It features a blue icon with the letter "e" surrounded by a yellow ring.
Step 2. Click on the "Settings" icon
It is gray in color and features a gear. It is located in the upper right part of the window. A drop-down menu will appear.
Step 3. Click on Internet Options
It is located at the bottom of the menu that appeared. The "Internet Options" dialog box will appear.
Step 4. Click the Delete… button
It is displayed in the "Browsing History" section of the "General" tab of the "Internet Options" window.
Step 5. Make sure the "History" checkbox is checked
If a check mark is not visible inside the square located on the left of the "History" item, click on it with the mouse to make it appear.
Step 6. Click the Delete button
It is displayed at the bottom of the window.
Step 7. Click the Apply buttons successively And OK.
This will save and apply the new browser configuration changes. At this point, the Internet Explorer browsing history will be deleted from your computer.
Method 7 of 8: Computer Safari
Step 1. Launch Safari
Click on the blue compass icon visible on the Mac Dock.
Step 2. Click on the Safari menu
It is located in the upper left of the screen. A list of options will be displayed.
Step 3. Click on the item Clear history…
It is displayed at the top of the drop-down menu Safari.
Step 4. Select the time range of the data to be deleted
Click on the "Delete" drop-down menu, then select one of the following items:
- last hour;
- today;
- today and yesterday;
- everything.
Step 5. Click the Clear History button
It is located at the bottom of the window. This will clear Safari's browsing history from your computer.
Method 8 of 8: Mobile Safari
Step 1. Launch the iPhone Settings app by tapping the icon
It is characterized by a gray gear and is normally visible on the Home of the device.
Step 2. Scroll down the menu and choose the Safari item
It is listed at the end of the first part of the menu.
Step 3. Scroll down the new page and select the Clear website data and history option
It is located at the bottom of the "Safari" menu.
Step 4. Press the Clear Data and History button
This will delete all Safari history data stored on the device.
