Fleece is a good material for a baby blanket because it is soft and soft. Another good reason to use fleece as a blanket material is that the edges don't need to be sewn because fleece won't fray. The blanket can be made in a couple of different ways - decide if you want to sew it or if you want to make a seamless version. The stitched version is by no means harder or longer to make than the seamless one. You can easily and quickly make each of the two versions by choosing the color and pattern of the fabric you prefer.
Steps
Step 1. Get the battery
- You will need two pieces of fleece.
- They don't have to be the same color but they have to be the same size. Choose colors and patterns that go well together.
- The material must have a measure between 0, 9 and 1, 4 meters for a width of 1 meter or more.
Step 2. Arrange one piece of fabric on top of the other so that the edges match
You will work the material as if it were a single piece.
- Place one piece of fabric on top of the other by matching the edges.
- Cut off the excess pieces. If there are any edges that don't match or there is excess fabric, cut it off with scissors. You need to get sharp, straight edges.
Step 3. Cut the corners of the blanket
Remove 10cm by 10cm squares from each of the four corners of your blanket.
Step 4. Cut some fringes along the entire perimeter of the blanket
- Start at one corner by measuring 2.54 cm along one edge of the blanket with the tape measure.
- Now make a 10 cm cut from the corner towards the center of the blanket.
- Continue making 10 cm cuts at a distance of 2.54 cm from each other along all four sides.
Step 5. Finish the blanket by tying the fringes together
- Take the first fringe of both layers of fleece.
- Tie the bangs of one layer with that of the other.
- Do the same for all the fringes.
Step 6. Turn the blanket over and tie the fringes on the other side as well
Tying the fringes on both sides will give a more elegant look to the final result.
Method 1 of 1: Sew a Baby Fleece Blanket
Step 1. Round the corners of the blanket
This step is optional, but serves to give the blanket a refined look. Create a pattern or use a pan or bowl to trace the edge of the rounded corner so that all four sides are rounded in the same way.
Step 2. Sew the two pieces of fleece together with a zigzag stitch or other decorative stitch
Leave the margins of 5 - 7, 6 cm.
Step 3. Finish the blanket by making fringes
You can use a Rotary Cutter for some finishing touches. Make sure you leave a large margin (1.3 cm or so) when cutting the fringes so that you don't cut into the seam and open the blanket.
- To make pointed fringes make a cut through the seam every 1.9 cm. To create the tip, cut off a small piece of the fringe starting from one corner of the fringe and cutting down towards the other corner of the fringe.
- For an alternative look, cut the fringes only on opposite sides of the blanket instead of around the entire perimeter.
- Make bunny ears to the blanket by cutting a wide fringe, creating spikes and flipping each fringe. To do this, the two cuts of the fringe must be 3, 18 cm apart. Create a small opening in the middle of the bangs at the base of the cut. Take the end of the bangs and pull it through the opening. Create a center point at the ends of the fringe by folding the ends in half and cutting off a small triangle. The crease of the bangs should match the tip of the triangle.
- Use trimming scissors or other decorative phobics to trim the fringes.
