Chocolate-covered Oreo cookies are a real treat. Making them yourself is very easy. You can create simple chocolate covered Oreos, or add a personal touch to decorate them and make them special for a particular occasion. Just follow a few simple steps to coat the Oreos in chocolate.
Steps
Step 1. Choose the type of Oreo you wish to cover
Although they are not that easy to find, there are other types of Oreos besides the basic ones: there are those with double filling, with mint filling or even different colors.
Step 2. Decide what kind of chocolate you want to use for the topping
Dark chocolate goes well with almost any type of Oreo, but some prefer white or milk chocolate. Maybe you can buy white chocolate of a different color, or you can color it yourself by adding a few drops of food coloring to it as it melts. For example, you can try green for St. Patrick's Day or red for Valentine's Day.
Step 3. Purchase a block of chocolate or bars
You can also dissolve 255g of chocolate chips with 23ml of margarine.
Step 4. Place parchment paper on a cookie sheet
This is where you will put the Oreos after you have covered them with chocolate.
Step 5. Melt the chocolate in the microwave in a suitable bowl
Turn on the oven at 30-second intervals, stopping each time to stir. You can also melt chocolate in a double boiler. Immediately start dipping the Oreos as soon as the chocolate is well melted.
Step 6. Dip each Oreo cookie into melted chocolate with a fork
Cover the Oreo completely with the chocolate by turning it with a fork or using a spoon to help the chocolate cover it well. After dipping it, pour the excess chocolate, and then place the Oreo on the baking sheet with the parchment paper you prepared earlier. As an alternative method, you can use your hands and only dip the Oreos halfway.
Step 7. If you wish, sprinkle the cookies with colored sprinkles immediately after placing them on the pan
You can also decorate them with alternating colors of chocolate by sprinkling it in a zigzag pattern over the cookie. For example, sprinkle white chocolate-coated Oreos with bitter cocoa powder. Or sprinkle bitter cocoa on the dark chocolate coating.
Step 8. Let the cookies harden
You can speed up the process by putting the cookies in the refrigerator. Once the cookies have hardened, remove them from the pan and place them in a closed container for storage. If you want to give them as a gift, you could wrap them one by one in a cellophane bag closed with a colored ribbon.
