Fruit salad is a delicious dessert that you can prepare in less than 10 minutes, plus you can enjoy it without getting fat! A fruit salad is perfect for breakfast and a great side dish for a picnic, party, or mid-day snack. If you want to prepare one in different ways, follow the instructions in this tutorial.
Ingrediants
Simple Macedonia
- 140 g of strawberries
- 140 g of cherries
- 70 g of blueberries

- 240 ml of orange juice
Avocado fruit salad
- 3 medium ripe avocados without stones
- 30 ml of lemon juice
- 120 ml of plain yogurt
- 30 ml of honey
- 15 g of grated lemon zest
- 1 medium-sized apple
- 1 medium ripe banana
- 140 g of seedless grapes cut in half
- 300 g of mandarin wedges
Tropical Macedonia
- 1 pineapple
- 2 mangoes
- 2 bananas
- 120 g of lychees in syrup (without liquid)
- 120 g of pomegranate seeds
- 15 g of dried coconut flakes
Steps
Method 1 of 5: Simple Macedonia
Step 1. Choose the fruit
Buy it fresh at the farmer's market or from the greengrocer and check that it is ripe and ready to eat. If it is still a bit unripe, the fruit salad will be a bit hard to chew. It is always better to choose fruits that are slightly more ripe than unripe, so the flavors will combine better. For this recipe you need strawberries, cherries, blueberries, red apples, peaches and kiwis.
Step 2. Wash all the fruit
This is a fundamental step that must be performed before cutting the fruit.
Step 3. Divide the cherries in half
If you want the salad to be easy to eat without having to manage the seeds of the cherries, then you have to divide them in half and remove the stones.
Step 4. Cut the strawberries, apple, peach and kiwi into small bites
Use a cutting board and a sharp knife to cut these fruits into pieces of about 2.5 cm.
Step 5. Transfer all the fruit to a bowl
You can add 30 ml of lemon juice to sweeten the fruit salad and prevent it from oxidizing quickly. If you wish, mix all the ingredients to combine the flavors. Follow the quantities indicated in the "Ingredients" section for the proportions between the various fruits.
Step 6. Serve the fruit salad
It is excellent at room temperature or just a little cold. Pair the dish with a glass of orange juice to enhance the flavors.
Method 2 of 5: Simple Fruit Salad with Orange Juice
Step 1. Pour 240ml of orange juice into a bowl
Step 2. Add the same ingredients from the previous recipe to the same bowl
Remember that fruit must be washed and cut. Let it rest for at least 5 minutes.
Step 3. Bring to the table
Eliminate the orange juice and enjoy this delicious and slightly tart fruit salad. If you are a lover of orange juice, you can drink the one in which you soaked the fruit or you can leave it in the bowl and enjoy it with the fruit itself.
Method 3 of 5: Avocado fruit salad
Step 1. Cut the avocados into small pieces
Take three medium-ripe fruits, remove the stone and cut them into bite-sized pieces. To proceed, you must first cut the avocado lengthwise, remove the stone and then make cuts in the fruit pulp perpendicular to each other. Try not to cut the peel but limit yourself only to the pulp. At this point, dig the fruit with a spoon to remove the cubes.
Step 2. Transfer the avocados to a bowl
Step 3. Sprinkle them with 30ml of lemon juice
Mix them to make sure all the cubes are covered in the juice.
Step 4. Drain the lemon juice but keep it
Leave the avocados aside for now.
Step 5. Prepare the dressing
In a small bowl, mix 120ml plain yogurt with 30ml honey and 15g grated lemon zest.
Step 6. Mix the fruit with the avocados
Add an apple, a banana, 140 ml of seedless grapes cut in half and 300 g of mandarin wedges.
Step 7. Coat the fruit with the yogurt sauce
Stir to mix everything.

Method 4 of 5: Tropical Macedonia
Step 1. Prepare the fruit
Core and chop one pineapple, two mangoes, slice two bananas and chop a jar of lychees in syrup. Also prepare 120 g of pomegranate kernels. Lightly mix all the ingredients in a bowl.
Step 2. Place the container in the refrigerator for one day
In this way the flavors are combined with each other.
Step 3. Toast 15 g of dry coconut flakes over medium heat
It will take 1-2 minutes for it to turn golden.
Step 4. Transfer it to a plate
Step 5. Garnish the fruit salad with coconut
Step 6. Serve the fruit salad

Method 5 of 5: Alternative Fruit Salads

Advice
- If you have added apples in the fruit salad, put some lime juice or keep the fruit salad in the fridge to prevent them from blackening.
- To make a fruit cocktail, add 200/400 ml of good quality orange juice and about 50/100 g of sugar, depending on the amount of fruit you are using.
- Don't be afraid to add other ingredients as a garnish. You can really use whatever you like, like yogurt.
- To make the fruit salad interesting and inviting, cut the fruit with different techniques. You can make some pieces round, some square and some oval. Use a cookie cutter and cut out fun shapes. Get the children to help you get them involved in the preparation and get some fun ideas.
- Instead of lemon juice, you can add a few slices of orange to preserve your fruit salad.
- If you choose to put watermelon, you can make the peel also become the bowl of your salad. Cut it lengthwise a few inches from the center. Use a spoon to scoop out the edible part and, when you have finished preparing your salad, transfer it to the emptied watermelon, using the other piece as a lid, if you like.
- Not sure which fruit combination is tastier? Do not worry! Whatever your choice, the flavor will always be superb. As a general rule, however, berries go well with everything, strawberries and kiwis are a fairly common pairing and mandarin has the ability to enhance the flavor of anything.
- Bananas turn black quickly. If you think you have leftovers, slice the bananas and dip them in lemon juice before mixing them with the rest of the ingredients.
- Try to combine ingredients with similar texture but different colors.
