While you are making a project that requires glue or applying fake nails, it can happen that residues of sticky and sticky material remain on your hands. Don't panic: absolutely avoid peeling or ripping the glue from the skin. Treat the affected area with an effective product. For example, you can try removing the glue with acetone, petroleum jelly or a hand cream. Alternatively, you can also try gently removing it with warm water and exfoliating soap, vegetable oil or butter.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Remove Glue and Residue with Natural Products
Step 1. Leave the affected area to soak and wash it
To gently remove the glue from your hands, all you will need is hot water and salt or sugar.
- Fill a basin with hot water;
- Dip your hand in the water and let it soak for a few minutes;
- Rub the affected area with a teaspoon of salt or sugar.
- Continue rubbing and massaging the area until the glue begins to wrinkle and peel off the skin.
Step 2. Apply vegetable oil to the affected area
A commonly used product, vegetable oil is effective in removing stubborn glue residues left on hands. Take a saucer and pour half a teaspoon of vegetable oil into it. Dip a clean cloth in it. Rub the soaked cloth on the affected area until the glue softens and peels it off the skin. Wash your hands with soap and water to remove the oil.
Step 3. Rub a knob of butter on the affected area
After treating your skin with acetone, you may have glue residue left on your hands. Remove them with butter instead of rubbing the skin directly.
- Place a small amount of butter on the blade of a knife, then grasp it with your fingers;
- Rub the butter into the glue residue with your fingertips. Continue until it detaches from the skin;
- Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water.
Method 2 of 3: Remove the Glue with Personal Care and Hygiene Products
Step 1. Remove the glue with an exfoliating shower gel or hand soap
These products are designed to soften and remove dead skin cells. Their cleansing and exfoliating properties make them perfect for trying to remove glue from hands. Vigorously wash and exfoliate the affected area with one of these products two or three times.
Step 2. Remove the glue with acetone
Acetone, found in nail polish removers, breaks down the glue, removing it from the surface of the skin.
- Take a saucer and a bottle of nail polish remover. Fill the saucer with acetone;
- The affected area can be treated in two different ways. If the glue is on your fingers, dip them in the acetone and let them soak for a few minutes. If it is on the rest of the hand, soak a cotton ball with acetone and leave it on or rub it on the glue for a few minutes;
- As the glue dissolves, massage your fingers on the area until it detaches from the skin;
- Wash your hands well with soap and water to remove the acetone and all glue residues;
- Moisturize your skin with a hand cream.
Step 3. Massage the petroleum jelly on the affected area
Petroleum jelly is an effective, toxic-free alternative to acetone. Pick up a small amount with your fingertips. Massage it on the affected area until the glue comes off the skin.
Some lip balms contain petroleum jelly and can be used instead of traditional lip balms
Step 4. Massage a hand cream on the affected area
Gently remove stubborn residue from your hands with a cream. Squeeze a small amount onto your fingertips. Massage it on the affected area until the glue comes off the skin.
Method 3 of 3: Remove the False Nail Glue from Hands
Step 1. Dip your fingers or your entire hand in warm water
To make it easier to remove the fake nail glue from your hands, you need to soften the adhesive first. Fill a basin with warm water. Dip your fingers or your entire hand into it. Leave the affected area to soak for two minutes. Remove any glue residue that comes off your nails or skin.
Step 2. File your nails and apply acetone
Grab a nail file, a bottle of acetone, and a handful of cotton balls.
- Carefully rub the file on your nails to remove the larger pieces of glue. Do not file the nail down to the skin.
- Soak a cotton ball in acetone and massage it into nails and skin. Continue rubbing the affected areas with the product until the glue comes off.
Step 3. Wash your hands well
After removing the glue with the help of the file and acetone, it is important to wash your hands. Moisten them with warm water, then scrub your skin and nails with an exfoliating soap.
