Everyone knows that shower cabin doors attract foam, water stains, and other dirt. To keep them as neat as the rest of the bathroom, you don't need to scrub them all the time, just find a way to get a lasting clean. To have a perfectly clean shower enclosure, you can use products found in stores or you can make a homemade detergent with water and vinegar.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Commercial Products
Step 1. Purchase a foam stain remover at your local supermarket or home improvement store
-
Follow the instructions on the bottle. Almost all products on the market are spray cleaners that must be sprayed on the shower doors; after carrying out this operation, it is necessary to wipe with a cloth to remove the residues of foam and dirt.
Step 2. To clean your shower, buy a liquid, gel, spray, or powdered all-purpose cleaner
Various degreasers and cleaners are available in household goods stores, malls and on the internet which have proven to be very effective for cleaning stainless steel and shower enclosures.
Step 3. Spray the doors with glass cleaner, then wipe with a cloth until it is absorbed
This product does not remove stubborn stains and foam residues, but it does help to make doors look brighter after dirt has been removed.
Step 4. Scrub the shower doors with dish soap
You can pour the detergent onto a sponge or, alternatively, as many people prefer, you can use a fabric softener.
Step 5. If you buy shower cleaning products at the supermarket, contact the sales staff, if you buy them online, contact customer service and tell them how your shower doors are made
They will be able to recommend the most suitable products for your needs.
Method 2 of 2: Water and Vinegar
Step 1. Fill an empty multipurpose spray bottle with distilled white vinegar and equal parts water
Step 2. Spray the water and vinegar solution on the shower doors
Let it act on the surfaces for a time that can vary from five to thirty minutes, depending on the amount of dirt present and in consideration of the last time you cleaned the shower enclosure.
Step 3. Fill a bucket or basin with water
You can also use the tub or sink if you prefer.
Step 4. Use a sponge soaked in clean water to wash the shower doors, then rinse them to remove the water and vinegar mixture
-
Pay attention to the corners where the doors overlap: remember to wipe the sponge in those points as well.
-
Spray the vinegar solution on the metal rails that support the shower doors. If necessary, loosen the grease and other residues with an old toothbrush.
Step 5. After scrubbing the doors with the water-soaked sponge, start drying them
You can use a clean cloth or rag, but make sure the doors are dry. If the doors were left wet, more dirt would quickly accumulate.
Advice
- When cleaning the shower doors, use rubber gloves to protect your hands.
- If you can keep the doors consistently clean, you can rub them with baby oil or lemon juice. This will help prevent the build-up of foam on the doors, and will also ensure a longer time interval between cleaning.
