If you have decided to knit or crochet a bag made of plastic bags, you first need to know how to prepare the plastic bag. This article shows you how to make a plastic ribbon that you need to make the "plastic thread" that you can use to knit or crochet to make your new bag.
Steps
Step 1. Cut the bottom seam of the plastic bag
Step 2. Unroll as much of the bag as possible
Roll it out.
Step 3. Fold the bag not quite in the middle of the width (with the crease perpendicular to the seam you cut)
Let one of the edges come out about 2.5 cm. Fold the part that you have already folded in half, repeating until the folded part is about 1 cm wide.
Step 4. Cut off the handles

You just turned the plastic bag into a thin plastic ribbon.
Step 11. Roll the plastic ribbon into a ball
Now you can knit something like this plastic grocery bag, made of reusable plastic.
Advice
- Use the same procedure to repurpose old T-shirts and make a "thread" of them for a soft crochet pillow, pet bed, and small rugs.
- Try using plastic bags of different colors to give a rainbow effect.
Warnings
- Keep plastic bags away from small children. They are potential sources of suffocation.
- Cats are notorious for swallowing things they shouldn't. Plastic wire could become an expensive trip to the vet.
