This guide explains how to download a file with a copy of your Outlook contacts. You can do this from the Outlook website or directly from Microsoft's program.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: On Outlook.com
Step 1. Open Outlook
Go to https://www.outlook.com/ with your favorite browser. If you are already signed in to Outlook, your inbox will open.
If you're not signed in to Outlook, enter your Microsoft account email (or phone number) and password
Step 2. Click on the "People" icon
It depicts two profiles and is located in the lower left corner of the Outlook web page. Press it and your Outlook Contacts page will open.
Step 3. Click Manage
You will see this tab at the top of the page.
Step 4. Click Export Contacts
It is an option found in the menu Manage.
Step 5. Check "All contacts"
Click on the circle to the left of "All contacts" on the right side of the page, under the heading "Which contacts do you want to export?".
If you see more than one format under "Select a format to export", you can also select the format you prefer
Step 6. Click Export
You will see this button at the top of the "Export Contacts" side section. Press it and Outlook will start downloading the contact file to your computer.
If necessary, confirm the download or select a save location
Method 2 of 3: On Windows Computer
Step 1. Open Outlook
Double-click the program icon, which looks like a blue and white envelope with a white "O" on it.
Step 2. Click on File
It is located in the upper left corner of the Outlook window. A menu will open.
Step 3. Click Open and Export
You will see this tab at the top of the menu File.
Step 4. Click Import / Export
You will see this option under the "Open" heading on the right side of the page.
Step 5. Select Export to file
Click on this button at the top of the box located in the center of the import and export window.
Step 6. Click Next at the bottom of the window
Step 7. Click on Comma Separated Values, then on Come on.
The folder selection window will open.
Step 8. Select the "Contacts" folder, then click Next
Click on the "Contacts" folder in the "Select folder to export from" window. If necessary, scroll up to find this entry.
Make sure it is in the "Contacts" folder under your Outlook account name
Step 9. Click Browse
You will see this button next to the current destination path of the file. Press it and a window will open.
Step 10. Enter the file name, then click OK
The next page will open.
Step 11. Select an export destination, then click Next
Click on the folder where you want to save your contacts. If you plan on uploading them to another service right after exporting them, the desktop is a good destination.
Step 12. Click Finish at the bottom of the window
Your contacts will be exported; at the end of the operation, the progress window will close automatically.
Method 3 of 3: On a Mac
Step 1. Open Outlook
Double-click the Outlook icon, which looks like a blue and white envelope with a white "O" on it.
Step 2. Click on File
You will see this menu in the upper left corner of your Mac screen.
Step 3. Click Export
Step 4. Uncheck all items except "Contacts", then click Continue
Step 5. Select the location to save the contacts, then click Save
Step 6. Click Finish at the bottom of the window
Your contacts will be exported; at the end of the operation, the progress window will close automatically.
