Dyeing your brows a darker shade is an easy way to make them more defined. If you don't want to use harsh chemicals or if you've had a bad reaction to cosmetic dyes, maybe it's time to try natural dyeing. Using coffee grounds you can get a beautiful brown color that will give more definition to the eyebrows. All you have to do to get an enviable result is to mix the coffee with other commonly used ingredients, such as cocoa, and let the dye work for less than half an hour.

- 2 tablespoons (21 g) of coffee grounds
- 1 teaspoon (3 g) of cocoa powder
- 2 tablespoons (26 g) of coconut oil
- Honey
Steps
Part 1 of 3: Prepare the Coffee "Tint"
Step 1. Blend the coffee grounds with the cocoa powder
Pour 2 tablespoons (21 g) of coffee grounds into a bowl, add a teaspoon (3 g) of cocoa powder and then mix well to combine the two ingredients.
- Do not use decaffeinated coffee. In addition to providing a more intense color, traditional coffee makes eyebrows appear thicker.
- The cocoa powder has the function of lightening the color. You can increase or decrease the dose depending on how much you want to darken your brows.
Step 2. Add coconut oil
After mixing the coffee grounds and cocoa powder, add 2 tablespoons (26 g) of coconut oil. Stir until you get a homogeneous mixture.
If you don't have coconut oil, try another one, such as olive or jojoba oil
Step 3. Add some honey
The coconut oil is used to make the mixture liquid and homogeneous, while the honey makes it stick to the eyebrows. Add some to the cocoa, oil and coffee mixture, then mix and make sure the dye has the right consistency.
- The dye must have a pasty consistency in order to stick to the eyebrows.
- There is no precise amount of honey to use. Start with a small amount, then test the mixture with your finger to see if it's sticky enough. If it slips on the skin, add a little more.
Step 4. Let the dye sit for a few minutes
When the dye is well blended, let it rest for 3-5 minutes, so that the ingredients have time to bond together.
Part 2 of 3: Prepare the Eyebrows
Step 1. Wash your face
The dye should be applied to perfectly cleansed skin, then wash your face with your usual cleanser to remove any residue of make-up, sebum and dirt. Focus especially on the brow area, then pat your face dry with a clean towel.
- If you have very dry, cracked skin, exfoliate the brow area with a face scrub before applying the tint.
- Avoid the area around the eyes where the skin is very delicate. Most cleansers tend to be itchy, while scrubs can irritate it.
Step 2. Comb your eyebrows
Before applying the coffee tint, you need to make sure your brows are perfectly in order. Take a clean brush or eyebrow comb and follow the natural direction of the hair to give it the desired shape.
If you do not like the natural shape of your eyebrows, before dyeing them, contact a beautician to correct it by removing excess hair with wax, tweezers or with the oriental thread method (threading)
Step 3. Pull out unwanted hair
When your brows are well combed, check them for any unwanted hair. Tear them off with clean tweezers so you don't risk accidentally applying the dye where you don't need to.
Carry out a checkup even if the last appointment with the beautician was a few days ago. Examine your brows in the mirror and remove any unwanted hair
Part 3 of 3: Dyeing the Eyebrows
Step 1. Smear the tint on the eyebrows
After carefully combing them, dip an angled or eyeliner-tipped brush into the coffee blend. Apply it on the eyebrows thinking about the shape you want to achieve. Add a second layer of dye to make sure the whole area is perfectly covered.
- Be careful not to apply the tint beyond the contour of the eyebrows, otherwise the skin will be stained.
- If you are concerned that you will not be able to be precise enough, define the outline of the eyebrows with the pencil before applying the tint.
Step 2. Clean up any burrs
After applying the dye, moisten a cotton swab with water. Run it along the contour of the eyebrows to correct any errors and smudges, in order to prevent the skin from becoming stained.
If you don't have cotton buds at home, take a tissue and fold it into a square or triangular shape. Wet one corner and use it to remove any burrs. However, keep in mind that it will be more difficult to get an accurate result
Step 3. Leave the dye on
After applying the tint to your brows, let it sit for about 20 minutes. The longer you leave the dye on, the darker the eyebrows will become, so decide how long to let it act based on how dark you want to darken the hair.
- The first time you use the dye, it is best to be cautious and leave it on for no more than 15-20 minutes.
- Keep in mind that it is better for the eyebrows to come out too light rather than too dark. You can always dye them again to achieve the desired shade, while it is not possible to lighten them otherwise.
Step 4. Remove the coffee tint
After the exposure time of about 20 minutes, wet another cotton swab and pass it on the eyebrows to remove the dye. Make sure there is no residue left.
- If you prefer, you can remove the dye with a wet cloth, but be aware that it may be stained.
- If your brows aren't dark enough, you can repeat the process from the beginning.
